Masculine Thanks Card

Hello! Tomorrow I have my follow-up appointment with my surgeon, so I made him this Masculine Thanks Card. Blue is the hospital colors and a nice manly color which works well in a monochrome color scheme. I used Night of Navy cardstock by Stampin' Up! and a bright blue from Core'dinations. The background was watercolored using Higgins blue watercolor ink and watercolor paper.  The top is a die called Glass Effects by Spellbinders and the thanks die is by Stampin' Up! Three glimmer stickers by Sticko were added for some extra interest and that's it!

I really like the Glass Effects die for masculine cards. The abstract look is fun and this card was pretty easy to make. It's sad that I've had this die for two years and this is only the second time I've used it. Click HERE to see the first card. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Get Whale Soon Card

Hello and happy Tuesday! It's amazing how fast two weeks goes bye but it has and that means it's team B's turn to host the challenge at Tuesday Throwdown. Our theme this week is the ever so popular Anything Goes. It does have to be something new, no links to a previous post but other than that... it's anything goes. Our sponsor this week is the Cutting Cafe and the design team have used the Under the Sea printable stamp set to create our inspiration. The set includes 11 different images and 18 sentiments in pdf format. With all the choices I decided to use the cute whale image for a more masculine "Get Whale Soon" card. We would love for you to join us this week! Click here to check out the design team inspiration and all the challenge details. You have until mid-day next Monday, August 22nd to link your creation. Hope to see you in the gallery! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Monochromatic Cards for The Paper Players

Hello and happy Sunday! It's time for another challenge at The Paper Players. This week the challenge theme is Clean and Simple Monochromatic hosted by Sandy. I love making monochromatic cards and ended up making two cards for this challenge. The first one (see below) is a Calypso Coral and Crisp Cantaloupe color scheme with butterflies. My second card (at left) was made using my favorite Green Monochromatic colors. The green colors used are: Garden Green, Pistachio Pudding and Wild Wasabi. I would love it if you would let me know which one you like better? My hubby picked the coral card and you'll notice I still chose to share the green card. However, this does not mean I always do the opposite of what he says (although he would debate this topic). In the end I decided to share both cards.  I hope you enjoy them and will make your own monochromatic card to share at The Paper Players (click here). The challenge is open through Friday, July 25th at Noon (PST). Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Stampin' Up! stamp sets used include: Mixed Bunch, Blooming with Kindness and Papillon Potpourri. The Hey There sentiment is from a Paper Pumpkin kit that I altered, it used to say Hey There Friend.

Simple Purple Valentine's Card

This week my friend Jessi created several cards using the color purple. Seeing all her posts (click here for my favorite) really inspired me to created this Simple Purple Valentine's Card. Purple is one of my favorite colors but for some reason it doesn't show up in my card creations very often. For this card I used the chevron heart stamp by Hero Arts. I stamped the heart onto a top note die cut and heat embossed it with two shades of purple. I used Zing! purple metallic and Stampendous! PEARLustre in Amethyst. I love the color intensity of a heat embossed image. Don't you? The purple patterned paper is DCWV, the XOXO sentiment is by Stampablities and the final touch are three small rhinestones by Recollections. This card came together quickly and was super easy to make. If you don't have heat embossing tools, simply stamping the image will work. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will visit again soon!

Handmade New Year's Card

Hello! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend! My crafting buddy was sunning himself in my craft room, so I couldn't resist hanging out with him and making a card. This Handmade New Year's Card was inspired by the photo challenge at Just Us Girls. I kept the design casual to play along with CAS-ual Fridays Happy New Year challenge.  I went with a monochrome brown color scheme. You can't really tell from the picture but the light tan is a glitter card stock by DCWV, which adds some sparkle. The clock patterned paper is by Karen Foster and the text print paper is from Stampin' Up!. The New Year sentiment is from a clear mini stamp set by KaiserCraft (CS926). There are only a couple of days left in 2013 and I hope you enjoy them. Thanks for stopping by!

Gold Thanks Card

The holidays will be here before we know it and then I will need a few holiday thank you cards. So, today I took the opportunity and made this Gold Thanks Card using the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. To play along with the Shopping Our Stash challenge I needed to use supplies on my desk. As luck would have it, I had my gold embossing powder and some scrap patterned paper that coordinated nicely together. I heat embossed the sentiment by Close to my Heart using the gold embossing powder on Very Vanilla cardstock. Using an ivory glitter cardstock I punched two small stars with a Creative Memories punch and the larger star was cut with my Cricut machine. The final result is a pretty simple gold monochrome card. Thanks for stopping by!

Green Butterfly Birthday Card

Hello! Last week my new boss asked me to make his wife a birthday card. When I asked him what her favorite colours were, he said green. Well, I don't know if monochromatic green is what he had in mind, but I decided to make three cards and let him choose. This Green Butterfly Birthday Card is the first one I made. I LOVE green and I've used one of my favorite butterfly stamps that I heat embossed using three different colors of embossing powder. The design comes from this weeks sketch at the Just Us Girls challenge blog. For a little extra detail I stitched around the edge of the patterned paper to give it that nice handmade feel. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Monochrome Green Card

It's time for one more GREEN card! This Monochrome Green Card was made using this weeks Tuesday Morning Sketch and there is a "twist" for this challenge. The twist is to use a Monochromatic Green colour scheme. I found another challenge called There She Goes and their challenge is to use Shades of Green. So, that's what I did. The flourish accents were cut with my Cricut machine and then I added some lime ice Stickles and rhinestones for a little sparkle. The Lucky Shamrock stamp is by Stampin' Up! and shamrock patterned paper by The Paper Studio. Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Monochromatic Teal Blue Card

To find inspiration for a card creation, I frequently search other blogs and Feline Playful for current challenges. There are numerous challenges on a daily basis to find the perfect creative inspiration. Tonight my inspiration comes from the Dynamic Duos Challenge to use Island Indigo and Pool Party which makes it a monochromatic teal blue colour scheme. I really enjoyed working with both these colours and couldn't wait to share my Monochromatic Teal Blue Card on my blog. I'd like to thank Vicki Burdick for inspiring me to use a new sentiment stamp from the Vintage Verses stamp set available during Stampin' Up!'s Sale-a-bration.  The stamp looks great with the Lacy Brocade embossing folder that I inked up with Island Indigo. To finish off the card I heat embossed the bitty butterfly with Pool Party embossing powder and added a few basic jewels for a little sparkle. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and I hope you like it too. Well, I hope you have a wonderful night/day and thanks for stopping by!!!

Monochromatic Teal Blue Card Supplies*:
  • Paper: Island Indigo, Pool Party, and Whisper White card stock.

With Love Card

One of my favorite colors is purple, but for some reason it doesn't show up in my cards very often.  Well, I decided that needed to change.  This With Love Card was made using a monochrome purple color scheme for the monochrome challenge at Charisma Cardz and I used the sketch from Card Positioning Systems. If I ever have a question about color schemes I like to consult the online color scheme designer. It is super easy to use and can help select colors that go well together.

With Love Card Supplies: Shades of purple cardstock, purple damask patterned paper by The Paper Studio, corner rounder and small flower punch by Creative Memories, 1" circle punch, With Love clear stamp by Hero Arts (CL500, Love Every Day), VersaMark watermark stamp pad, Stampendous! Pearlustre embossing powder in amethyst, velour brads by The Paper Studio, and stampin' dimensionals.
