Speedy Recovery Card - TMS #507

Hello and happy Tuesday! Today is the start of new sketch challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches. This weeks sketch is super easy and versatile for holidays or everyday. I decided to make a recovery card using the One The Mend stamp set by Lawn Fawn. This is one category of cards that I don't have many in my stash. Can you tell the background paper is little pills? It's by Doodlebug Designs and is from the So Much Pun 6x6 pad (2018). I'm looking forward to see how you use this weeks sketch! You have until Sunday at 8 pm EST to link your creation. Click HERE for all the design team inspiration and challenge details. Thanks for stopping by!

Slow and Steady Card

When I look through my stamp stash it's obvious I'm a sucker for cute critters, butterflies and floral stamp sets. The first time I saw a card made with this Slow and Steady image by Neat and Tangled I immediately went to their website and made my purchase. I definitely need to work on my self control! But... it's cute, right?

This Slow and Steady Card was made with my youngest niece in mind. She is in high school and I'm sure I'll have plenty opportunities where this card would be perfect for her. The image was colored with Copic markers and then die cut with the coordinating die. The small butterfly and flowers are from two different stamp sets by Newton's Nook. They were already colored and in my stash of extras. The background paper is from the Hello Sunshine paper pad by Doodlebug Design (2014) and it was die cut with the Frames and Flags die set by Newton's Nook. So glad you stopped by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Turtle Just Because Card

The sentiment Just Because is one of my favorites because it's so versatile. When I first started making cards I used this sentiment a lot but as my sentiment stash grew I didn't use it as often. This week I went to Hobby Lobby and found this Just Because stamp on clearance for $1.00. I really like the font and text size and for the price it was an easy decision.

To make this Turtle Just Because Card I started with the current sketch from Stella Says Sketch #608. The Girl Turtle image is by Bugaboo Digi Stamps and it was colored with Copic markers and then die cut with a stitched circle die by My Favorite Things. Green and pink are pretty colors together and the floral paper by American Crafts matches the turtle's flower nicely. To accent the image a paper flower and green polka dot brad both by The Paper Studio was added. The flower needed some leaves so I used the retired Bird Builder punch by Stampin' Up! for the green leaves. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Birthday Card with Turtle

Today is day 6 of the Bugaboo Birthday Bash at the Catch the Bug Blog. The challenge is a recipe challenge to use: Kraft, Ribbon & Bold Colors. I chose some fun bright bold colors using patterned papers from the Hello Sunshine paper pad by Doodlebug Designs. The turtle image has been in my stash since 2013 (click here for another turtle birthday card). Copic markers were used to color the image and then it was die cut with a stitched circle die. The ribbon was adhered flush to the card behind the image. I'm not good with bows, so I avoid making them whenever possible. Five larger sequins were added for sparkle and the Happy Birthday sentiment is from the new Perennial Birthday stamp set by Stampin' Up!. That's it, thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Casual Just for You Card

Each of us have our own interpretation of how casual is defined on our card creations. To me it's simply having one main focal area with minimal embellishments. When it comes to patterned paper... I say use it! This Casual Just for You Card is a good example of my casual definition.

Update: Okay, I now know that CAS means clean and simple. Ha! I should have looked this acronym up. So, for those of us who love patterned paper and struggle to leave enough "white space" we can just call our cards casual.

All supplies for this card are by Stampin' Up! The Bella & Friends image was stamped using Memento black ink and colored with ink pads and a blender pen. On either side of the turtle and Bella I added some flowers from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set. The patterned paper is from the Affectionately Yours dsp, Cardstock colors used include: Whisper White, Watermelon Wonder, Night of Navy and Daffodil Delight. Two retired items were used to add detail... the Sizzix butterfly embosslit and the decorative scalloped edgelit. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and come back again soon.

Pansy Turtle Smile Card

Hello to the month of August! At this point I'm counting down the days until Fall/Autumn, which will arrive this year on September 22nd! I don't enjoy the summer heat in Oklahoma, so I spend a lot of my summer indoors in my craft room. :) This weekend I cleaned my craft room and found several digital images that I printed and set aside to use later. Then they got covered up and forgot about. This darling Pansy Turtle by Doodle Pantry was one of them. The size of the image was perfect for the sketch I found in the archives at Sketch Saturday. The sketch was from the April 6, 2013 challenge #253. I love using circles and this sketch was a lot of fun to use. This Pansy Turtle Smile Card was created for the following challenges:
The finished size of this card is 5.25" square. All patterned papers are from the Dots & Stripes paper pads by Echo Park. The little butterflies were stamped using the Papillon Potpourri stamp set by Stampin' Up! and punched with the Bitty Butterfly punch. The sending a smile your way sentiment is from the new Love & Affection stamp set by Stampin' Up! and the final touches were some sequins and rhinestones for sparkle. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Beach Turtle Card

Hello! It's Tuesday again and time for a new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz. This week the theme is Something beginning with the letter T. This was the perfect challenge to use a turtle image by Bugaboo and of course it needed to be accented with some twine. I decided to make my card for a younger guy and use bright summery colors. To create this card I used the sketch from Stella Says Sketch (#311) at the Catch The Bug Challenge. The image was colored with Copic markers and I paper pieced the umbrella to give it a subtle pattern. All patterned papers are by Echo Park from the I Love Sunshine Collection. The sentiment was created on the computer and punched with a 1" circle punch then matted with a 1 1/4" circle punch. That's it!

There are lots of crafty possibilities using the letter T and I can't wait to see what you create. Click here for more inspiration from the design team and we hope you will play along. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Turtle Christmas Card

Okay, another card is done. This Turtle Christmas Card is for the Bugaboo Tuesday Recipe Challenge. The recipe includes: 3 Embellishments, 2 Designer Papers and 1 Ribbon/Twine. The holly paper is by Doodlebug Designs and the Merry Christmas paper is from The Paper Studio. Using my Copic markers the Turtle - Christmas image was colored and then cut to fit the scalloped Spellbinder die cut. I added red twine from the Twinery and three silver sequins. That's it!

Now, the countdown is on! There are five hours left of the Bugaboo Christmas in July Challenge event and I have two more cards to complete. My break to cook dinner and watch a movie with the hubby set me back a few hours. It's a good thing I'm a night owl. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you come back soon.

Relaxing... Palm Tree Card

Happy Tuesday! This week at Cardz 4 Guyz the challenge theme is Relax. Thinking of the word relax, brought about ideas of a vacation. Somewhere calm and beautiful would be nice. The gentle sound of waves in the background and a day with no agenda to accomplish. Nothing but relaxing!!!

Well... since a vacation isn't on the horizon, a relaxing card will have to do! To create this Palm Tree Card I used a digital image and sentiment by Doodle Pantry. The patterned papers are by Stampin' Up! (Fresh Prints and Trim The Tree paper stacks) and by Paper Pizazz (Sandstone). To finish off the card, I couldn't resist adding the sea turtle charm. It reminds me of a picture of my brother on his vacation last year, he got to hold a baby sea turtle. I might be a little jealous.

Click here to check out more relaxing inspiration from the design team. We would love for you to play along!

Turtle Christmas Card

Hello! I have a quick post to share my latest card created for three challenges. First I selected a Bugaboo image to play along with Bugaboo's Second Annual Holiday Choas. The image is Turtles - Christmas and I colored it with my Copic markers. Then I selected the Holly patterned paper to play along at Crafty Little Fairies. The patterned papers are from multiple sources, Holly pattern by Doodlebug Designs, red and green foil stripe by Recollections and red and white glitter polka dots by Best Creation Inc. To accent the image, I cut a green scalloped circle using a Spellbinders die. Then I added three red rhinestones and a dimensional poinsettia sticker by Recollections. That's it! The third challenge I would like to enter is a Christmas/Holiday Season theme at The Crafter's Cafe. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Turtle Love Valentine's Card

Yesterday while at a networking event I was delivering a Valentine's card to one of my clients. Visiting with my client was a gentleman and when he saw my handmade card he asked me to make a card for his wife. The gentleman told me his wife likes turtles and I knew Bugaboo Digi Stamps would have the perfect image and so I agreed to make his wife a card. In my mind every lady should get a handmade Valentine's card!!! This Turtle Love Valentine's Card is what I came up with. The Turtles - Love image was colored with my Copic markers. I used a Fiskars heart edge punch and heat embossed the XOXO sentiment with white embossing powder. The final touches were Blossom colored twine from The Twinery and pink rhinestones by Recollections. When I took it to him this afternoon he was really happy with it and hopefully his wife will be too. Well, that's the story. Thanks for stopping by and have a terrific day!

Turtle Happy Birthday Card

Last night my hubby wasn't feeling very good. So while he took a nap, I played in my craft room. It was the only logical choice, because let's face it, cleaning wasn't an option on a Saturday night. To start I found a couple of challenges that I wanted to participate in and used them as the starting point for my card. Here are the inspirational challenges for this Turtle Happy Birthday Card:
  1. The Sweet Stop: Sketch/Birthday Twist
  2. My Time to Craft: Stitching
  3. Send A Smile 4 Kids: Birthday Fun 4 Kids
  4. Catch The Bug: Bingo (Pastels, Bugaboo image, Embossing)

I flipped the sketch upside down to place the Happy Birthday sentiment so it looks like it's coming out of the turtle's kazoo. I coloured my Turtle Birthday image by Bugaboo with Copic markers and added a little Stickles for sparkle. There is quite a lot of stitching on this card and I added some purple doodle twine because I LOVE twine. Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!!!

Turtle Happy Birthday Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Whisper White and Wild Wasabi card stock by Stampin' Up!, pastel yellow and purple card stock by Core'dinations, and Easter Chevron patterned paper by The Paper Studio.
  • Stamps: Turtle Birthday by Bugaboo digi stamps and Little Happy Birthday sentiment stamp by Hero Arts.
