Grow with Love Card - TMS #514

Hello and happy Tuesday! This weeks sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches by Melissa Craig is really open for your creativity. It's been awhile since I used watercolor, so I decided to watercolor an image by Unity Stamps called Angie's Tree for this Grow with Love Card. The design team has some wonderful inspiration and we all took a different approach to this sketch. I sure hope you will join us this week and link your creation. You have until 8 pm EST on Sunday to play along. There is always a great prize for one lucky winner and it could be you. Click HERE for all the challenge details and design team inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

I Heart You Card

Hello! I hope you've been staying warm in your craft room. It's been really cold this week and I'm ready for a few warmer days. Cold weather doesn't usually bother me but this cold snap has a little bite to it. It's evident my joints are not as young as they used to be. 😢

This afternoon I made this I Heart You Card for my youngest niece. The bear image is by Bugaboo Stamps and it was colored with Copic markers. Unfortunately the cardstock I use when printing digital images doesn't blend as well. If you have a suggestion for a good white 65# cardstock that works well with Copic markers, please share in the comments. The patterned papers are from the Crush paper pad by We R Memory Keepers. A few heart sequins were added for sparkle and that's it. Everything was adhered flat for easy shipping. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day. ❤

Sending Love Card

Hello! I have a quick post to share this Sending Love Card I made using the Sending Hugs stamp set and Tumbling Hearts stencil by Newton's Nook. Newton was colored with Copic markers in neutral gray tones and a Sweet Sugarplum Stampin' Pad was used for the hearts. A 1" strip of patterned paper was added for contrast and the sentiment was stamped and heat embossed onto a piece of Berry Burst cardstock. Three glimmer stickers were added for sparkle and that's it. Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine Couple Card

Hello! Last week when I was searching in my craft room I found this digital image by Kenny K, it was printed and waiting to be used. So, I decided to use it on a Valentine Card. First, I selected patterned papers from the Be Mine paper pad by Recollections and then I colored the image with Copic markers to coordinate. Some clear Wink of Stella was added to the dark red border around the heart for a little sparkle. Once all the layers were assembled the focal image was adhered with dimensionals. The sentiment stamp is from a Valentine's set I bought several years back by Recollections. The finishing touch was the addition of three heart sequins and that's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Owl Love Card

It's been a long and crazy day around my house! So, to help reduce my stress I made this Owl Love Card. The colors were inspired by the current Pretty in Pink challenge at Inky Paws. Pink isn't a color you see often on my card creations but this time of year it's perfect for Love/Valentine's Day Cards. I thought the cute owls from the What a Hoot stamp set by Newton's Nook were perfect for this card. They were colored with Copic markers and then die cut with the coordinating dies. The sentiment stamp is by Stampendous! To create the pink background Distress Oxide inks in Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick were used on mixed media paper. The paper was spritzed with water and then a heat gun was used to dry the wet spots. Picking the patterned paper was the hardest part! The stripes by Doodlebug Designs are subtle and I thought it worked well with the design. Then I decided to add some stitching and the final touch were three clear sequins. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Bear Love Card

Hello! It's Tuesday again and that means it's time for another challenge at Tuesday Throwdown. This week we want to see your paper piecing skills. Our wonderful sponsor is Robyn's Fetish who generously provided the design team with several images to choose from. For this Bear Love Card I used the It's Bearly Love image. I chose this image for the ease of paper piecing the heart. When it comes to paper piecing, I'm not an expert. My scissor skills could definitely be improved. So, keep that in mind, you don't have to be a paper piecing expert to play along. If you've never tried paper piecing then challenge yourself to try something new. You have until mid-day Monday February 8th to link your creation. Click here to check out the design team inspiration and for all the challenge details.

To create this card I used my favorite color, purple, and I wanted the heart to be plaid. It was a little bit of a challenge to match the plaid paper with other purples in my stash. There was a piece of paper that I knew would be perfect, however I couldn't find it. I know I've seen it before but sadly I may have never purchased it. Do you ever do that? Think you have something but you don't, or even buy things twice because you don't remember buying them. The answer to both of these dilemmas for me... is YES!

In the end both patterned papers selected are by Paper Pizzazz. The scalloped oval and center oval are by Avery Elle. To color the bears I used Copic markers. I masked a Love You stamp by The Paper Studio to only use the Love part. To add some detail, I added some Honeydew twine from The Twinery. That's it!

Panda Love Valentine's Card

Snowflakes are falling in Oklahoma today which makes for a great day to create Valentine's for the Cards from the Heart Card Drive. The card drive is organized by Winter Sims and she distributes the cards to hospitals for the kids who are hospitalized to receive a Valentine's Card on Valentine's Day. This is my fourth year to participate and I hope you will participate this year too!!! I usually create three or four designs and make multiples of each. There are strict guidelines for what can be used on the cards, so please CLICK HERE and read Winter's post before you start creating.

My Panda Love Valentine's Card uses a new to me digital image fron Deedee's Digis (no longer available, shop closed) and patterned papers from the retired Stacked with Love paper stack from Stampin' Up!. The Love sentiment is from TPC Studios and was stamped using Memento black ink. Everything was adhered flat onto the card to make it easier to ship and that's it.

Cat Couple Anniversary Card

This weekend my hubby and I are celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary. It's amazing how the years have flown by. I decided to make this Cat Couple Anniversary Card for him because our cats are the center of our lives. Before my hubby met me he never dreamed he would have a house cat, but he inherited one when we got married. Eventually we added another, and then another and ever since we've had three cats. We've been through some tough times when we lost our first and then our second kitty companions. At one point he said "NO more", it's too painful when they pass on, but I convinced him there are too many who need love to guard ourselves from the hurt. He was hesitant but now agrees with me. Here is our current kitty crew:

Waiting for dinner
To the back is our oldest, Sassy (she has pretty green eyes), in the middle is Mr. Dickens (the sweetest cat ever) and then we have Tazzy (our lovable and crazy cat). Since we were never able to have children, our kitties fill a big hole in our hearts and they provided wonderful entertainment.

This Cat Couple Anniversary Card is entered into the following challenges:

Puppy LOVE Card

Hello again!!! I'm the hostess this week at Cardz 4 Guyz and I selected the theme Puppy LOVE. I had Valentine's Day in mind but it could also be a budding romance or a fondness for our canine companions. It's always fun to see the clever ways a challenge theme is interpreted.

To create my Puppy LOVE Card I used patterned papers from the new Stacked With Love designer series paper stack by Stampin' Up! The puppy stamp is by Stampendous! I colored the image with my Copic Markers using cool gray colors. I stamped love onto red cardstock and punched using a Martha Stewart heart punch. Then I added three Candy Dots by Stampin' Up!. That's it!

I hope you will play along with us this week. Click here for more inspiration from the design team at Cardz 4 Guyz. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Purrrfect Together Valentine's Card

Tonight I made this Purrrfect Together Valentine's Card for one of my coworkers to give his wife. The only thing he gave me to go on was a white cat. Being a cat lover myself, I knew I would have no problem with this request. When it came to picking the right cat image I decided to case a card by Mary J that she posted earlier this week. As soon as I saw her card I knew the cat image would be perfect! I hope my coworker thinks it's Purrrfect!!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great night!

Blooming Love Card

Hello! I hope you're having a fantastic day. Mine has been pretty good. I was sitting by myself at lunch and was approached by a lady who needed a hair model for a training class. I was brave enough to participate. She washed, trimmed and styled my hair for free. Plus she gave me a scalp and neck massage. I guess I was in the right place at the right time and it turned out terrific. It really made my day!

Onto my card.... this Blooming Love Card was made using the colors in the Sunday Stamps challenge. The colors are Black, Fuchsia and Red. The closest color I have to Fuchsia is Melon Mambo, so that's what I used. I went with a really simple layout and used a fun black and white patterned paper by Recollections. The sentiment stamp is by Print Works and the pansy flower was stamped using the Flower Shop stamp set by Stampin' Up!. I layered the punched pansy with a real red punched blossom flower and used a black glitter brad in the center. Feeling I needed a little more of a glam look, I added the strip of black glitter tape by Recollections. The corners of the white card stock were punched using the scroll corner punch by Fiskars and I punched a couple of pieces of Melon Mambo and inlayed them into the punched white card stock. (I hope that makes sense!) This card could be used for an anniversary or wedding and it was pretty easy to make. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Love Birds Card

Hello and good afternoon! Tomorrow is Valentine's Day so I made one more card to celebrate the occasion. This card would also work great as an anniversary card if you changed up the patterned papers. The design for this Love Birds Card came from this weeks Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge. I've used a digital stamp by Bugaboo Digi Stamps and coloured it with my Copic markers. The patterned paper is by Doodlebug Designs Inc. I hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!

Just a Note of Love

This morning when I read the theme challenge at CAS-ual Fridays was LOVE SONG, there were many songs that popped into my head. There was no way I could pick just one, so I settled on using sheet music. Growing up I took piano lessons and although I don't play often, I love sheet music. Especially vintage sheet music. So, think instrumental classical music, Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 or Chopin's Prelude in E-Minor. The notes are all that matter with no lyrics getting in the way. To start this creative process  I started digging through my stash and realized I needed to make a trip to the craft store, or at least that's the "excuse" I used. Anyway, I found some washi tape with sheet music by Recollections and it was perfect for the card I wanted to create. Now there is no song that feels left out, because they can all be represented with this Just a Note Love Card. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Just a Note Love Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, and Basic Black card stock by Stampin' Up!
  • Other Stuff: Big Shot, Sizzix label die, Cricut machine, George and Basic Shapes cartridge (oval) and Home Accents cartridge (love script), silver heart brads from my stash, washi tape by Recollections, and dimensionals.

Country Chic Love Card

Last night I spent some time creating this Country Chic Love Card. I used the Tuesday Trigger Photo inspiration from Moxie Fab World. Since I grew up in the country, I've taken the clean colors in the photo and given them a Country feel. The style is different for me, I distressed and inked all the edges and did a little sanding. I hope you like it! Different is good, right?

I used the CR84FN Color Challenge ,the Mojo Monday Sketch challenge, and the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger photo to create this Handmade Love Card. It's been awhile since I participated in all of these challenges, so it made perfect sense to combine them. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

  • Paper: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, and Pool Party card stock by Stampin' Up and patterned paper by American Crafts.
  • Other Stuff: Swiss Dots embossing folder by Cuttlebug, Finishing Touches Edgelit, Pool Party twine, and Small Heart punch by Stampin' Up!, Cricut Machine, Home Accents Cricut Cartridge, and paper heart doily from dollar bin at Target.

When I look at the Moxie Fab Trigger photo called Sweet Dreams it reminds me of a serene comfortable romance and that helped me decide to make this Handmade Love Card that I will use as a wedding card.
