Happy Place Card

It's time to say good-bye to July! Each day we get closer to Fall and that makes me happy. The sunshine is great but I prefer the crisp breeze of Fall.

This Happy Place Card was made using the new Newton's Birdhouse stamp along with the Frames and Flags die set by Newton's Nook. Copic markers were used to color the image and the coordinating die to cut it out. I did a little ink smooshing using Tumbled Glass distress ink and added some green grass punched with a Fiskars grass punch. A piece of patterned paper from the Sunshowers paper pad by Heidi Grace Designs was used and that's it. This Happy Place Card is entered into the following challenges: Addicted to Stamps (Make Your Mark), Inky Paws (Summer Theme), Simon Says Stamp (Anything Goes), Tuesday Throwdown (Furry Friends) and Watercooler Wednesday (Anything Goes). It makes me happy that you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

Hello and happy Tuesday! This weeks sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches by Melissa Craig is really open for your creativity. It's been awhile since I used watercolor, so I decided to watercolor an image by Unity Stamps called Angie's Tree for this Grow with Love Card. The design team has some wonderful inspiration and we all took a different approach to this sketch. I sure hope you will join us this week and link your creation. You have until 8 pm EST on Sunday to play along. There is always a great prize for one lucky winner and it could be you. Click HERE for all the challenge details and design team inspiration. Newton Ice Cream Card

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream! A part of me does believe Ice Cream solves everything or at least it should. Anyway... I'm being silly, I guess that's what happens when I'm sleep deprived. We have a cat that's been waking us up at 4 am and it's starting to make me crazy. So, after several cups of coffee I made this Newton Ice Cream Card for the Bright and Cheerful challenge at Simon Says Stamp using the colors from Coloring in Scrapland's photo inspiration (see below). The image is from the Newton's Summer Treats stamp set by Newton's Nook and it was colored with Copic markers. All patterned papers are from the Summer Days paper pad by Echo Park (2010). I got a little creative with the layout and I really like how it turned out. To finish the card three sequins were added for sparkle and everything was adhered flat for easy shipping. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day. 😊

Merriest Wishes Card

Good day! I have a quick post to share this Merriest Wishes Card. It was inspired by the Christmas in July photo/movie challenge at Catch The Bug. The movie is White Christmas and the photo is a wonderful snow woodland scene (see below). So, I used more white than normal with some fun foil polka dot paper. It looks silver and when light hits it there is a rainbow look. It's by DCWV pastel foils mat stack and it was paired with a Bugaboo image called Winter Birds - Snowman. The image was colored with Copic markers and die cut with a Taylored Expressions scalloped frame. On my craft desk was this cute squirrel from a retired Newton's Nook set that I colored months ago and I decided it was perfect next to the Merriest Wishes sentiment. That's it! Everything was adhered flat for easy shipping. I'm also entering this card into the challenge at Craftyhazelnut's Christmas. So glad you stopped by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Newton Santa Paws Card

Happy Thursday! We got a subtle break from the summer heat the last couple of days and it's been nice. I mowed the lawn yesterday and pulled a few weeds, but there are still plenty of outdoor chores that need to be done. It's seems there is never enough time or energy to get everything accomplished.

Making Christmas cards in July is a wonderful idea! It helps me add to my stash and it's a nice break from summer colors. Although, this Newton Santa Paws Card is the first one I've made this month. I've had a harder time finding ideas than usual. Luckily the sketch at Inky Paws helped to inspire this card. The Santa Paws stamp set by Newton's Nook was used and the images colored with Copic markers. Three different patterned papers were used, plaid by Lawn Fawn, polka dots by Stampin' Up! and snowflakes by Recollections (Fireside paper pad). I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

On My Mind Card - TMS #513

Another week has come and went and it's time to start another sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches. This weeks layout was designed by Debbie Foster and my card features a digital image called Bunny by Di's Digital Stamps. The sweet bunny was colored with Copic markers and die cut with a stitched square die. A sentiment was added where the butterflies are featured on the sketch with some twine in place of the rick rack element. A small butterfly was added for detail and that's it. I sure hope you will join us this week! For all the challenge details and design team inspiration click HERE. Don't forget to have your card linked by 8 pm EST on Sunday. Otterly Amazing Card

Hello! I hope all is well in your world today. This afternoon I read the challenge at Simon Says Stamp was to make your own background, so I decided to play along. After finding a couple of masculine challenges at Watercooler Wednesday and Use Your Stuff this Otterly Amazing Card was in the works. The stamp set used is called Otter Friends by Hello Bluebird and I totally feel in love with it the minute I saw it. After coloring the images with Copic markers they were die cut with the coordinating dies. To make the background I used distress inks in Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire. The outer paper started with Sahara Sand cardstock by Stampin' Up! and it was inked with Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap distress inks. Water was spritzed onto the inked papers and some color dabbed away. The heat gun was used to help speed the drying process. A Memory Box die called Underwater Collage was used and the images positioned onto the card. The final addition was the heat embossed sentiment and that's it. I'm also entering this card in the anything goes challenge at Word Art Wednesday. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Welcome Spring Card

It may be Summer but I'm thinking Spring. I send out more cards in Spring and Fall, so I thought I would work on cards for those seasons. I'm also trying to use the digital images I already have printed and this Spring Friends image by Bugaboo Stamps was perfect to go with the current Stella Says Sketch challenge. After selecting the patterned paper from the Hoppy Easter paper pad by Doodlebug Design the image was colored with Copic markers to coordinate. Some scraps were used for the three banners and the sentiment is from the Woodland Spring stamp set by Newton's Nook. For easy shipping everything was adhered flat and that's it. So glad you stopped by and I hope you come back again soon.

Newton You're Cool Card

Happy Friday! There are only minutes left to enter the Inky Paws color challenge #101 using red, pink, lime green and light brown. Even though I started my card days ago, it was just finished. There were lots of distractions this week at my house!

To make this card I did some ink smooshing using worn lipstick distress ink and mixed media paper. The green patterned paper is from the Tutti Frutti paper pad by My Mind's Eye and it was die cut using the Newton's Nook Frames and Flags die set. After stamping the image from the Newton's Summer Treats stamp set it was colored with Copic markers and die cut with the coordinating die. Three sequins were added for sparkle and everything was adhered flat for easy shipping. So glad you stopped by!

This Newton You're Cool Card is also entered into the following challenges:

10th Birthday at TMS

Happy 10th Birthday to Tuesday Morning Sketches! That's a long time and a lot of sketches over the years. I'm proud to be part of the design team and we have some wonderful inspiration for you this week. We would love for you to celebrate this milestone with us. All you have to do is make a card with the sketch and link your creation by 8 pm EST on Sunday. Click HERE for all the challenge details and design team inspiration. I hope to see your card in the gallery!

To make my card I used distress oxide inks in tumbled glass and mermaid lagoon with mixed media paper. I spritzed it with water several times and used a heat gun to help it dry. Once dry a Folk Art stencil by Plaid called Handmade Charlotte was inked with peacock feathers distress ink. For the smaller circle a portion of the stencil was inked with abandoned coral distress ink and die cut with a stitched die. A sentiment by Close to My Heart was stamped with Memento black ink. Then some twine and candy dots added and that's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Three star sequins were added for sparkle and the happy birthday sentiment is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set by Stampin' Up!. That's it! Wishing you a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by.

Blue Butterfly Note Card

Hello! This year I didn't make any cards for the Fourth of July holiday. I did want to use some patriotic colors, so I made this Blue Butterfly Note Card. Since the floral paper is pretty bold and the colors are strong, I kept it simple. No added embellishments. The floral patterned paper is by Bo Bunny from the Celebrating Freedom paper pad and was matted to a piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock by Stampin' Up!. The butterfly is also by Stampin' Up! from the Beautiful Day stamp set and it was colored with Stampin' Blends markers in Night of Navy. Using a heat gun and Vintage Pearl embossing powder by Ranger the sentiment was heat embossed. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and come back again soon.

Vintage Butterfly Card - TMS #510

Hello and happy Tuesday! I can't believe it's already July. There's not too much I like about summer but I do love butterflies. This weeks sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches was perfect for this Vintage Butterfly digital image. It was printed onto Very Vanilla cardstock and Copic markers were used to color two of the butterflies. Floral patterned paper from the Floral Spice paper pad by Bo Bunny was used for the background and Bermuda Bay cardstock for the scalloped frame. A small little flower and leaves for detail and that's it. We would love for you to join us this week! You have until Sunday at 8 pm to link your creation. Click HERE for all the challenge details and design team inspiration. Wishing you a wonderful day!
