Trick or Treat Card -TMS #518

Happy Tuesday! August is almost over and each day we get closer to Fall which also means Halloween is near. Using this weeks sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches I made this Trick or Treat Card. I send out several cards for Halloween to family and friends, so it's always a good idea to start early. Over the last couple of weeks I've seen several Halloween cards entered into our challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches and that helped inspire me to get a head start. We would love for you to play along with the sketch challenge and join us this week. Click HERE for all the details and design team inspiration. You have until 8 pm EST on Sunday to link your creation. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Halloween Card in June

Okay... I made one more card for the Inky Paws 100th challenge. I couldn't help myself I had to use my favorite Newton's Nook Hoppy Halloween stamp set. You know when you see a stamp set and just have to have it? That's how I felt with the Hoppy Halloween set. 💜

To create this card I combined the first Inky Paws challenge which was a sketch with the color challenge #82. The images were colored with Copic markers and die cut with the coordinating dies.  Patterned papers are from the Boos & Brews paper pad by Doodlebug Designs (2016). The sentiment was heat embossed and to add some sparkle a few sequins were added. That's it! So glad you stopped by and enjoy the rest of your day!

I'm entering this Halloween Card into the copy cat color challenge.

Happy Hoppy Halloween!!!

Happy Hoppy Halloween!!! The trick-or-treating has begun and a sugar rush is sure to follow. We always decorate our yard and try to make it fun for the kids. Unfortunately, it is raining and that may keep some of the ghouls and goblins away. That could mean leftover candy... which I'm sure my hubby will have no problem polishing off.

After I mailed my Halloween cards to family and friends, I decided to make one more card using some of the scraps. Everything was laying around my craft desk and the image was already colored. All I had to do was trim a few pieces, die cut the bats, stamp the sentiment and adhere everything together. The orange polka dot paper really soaked up the Memento black ink I used with the sentiment. It started out much darker, but it's much lighter now. Well, that's it! I hope you have a safe and Happy Halloween!

Halloween Cards are Mailed!

After all the cards have been carefully made it's always a big relief to get them mailed! This year I ended up making fourteen cards. I made a few extras because there are a couple I didn't want to give away. Here is the last card I made using the Halloween Trio stamp set by Newton's Nook:

It's one I'm keeping or I'll give it to my hubby. The background was made with distress oxide inks and the patterned paper is from the Trick or Treat paper pad by Pebbles (2016). Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

BOO Halloween Card

Happy Monday! This morning I made this BOO Halloween Card using a die cut set (DIE325-V) by Impression Obsession. I wanted a simple and quick card to send to the younger boys in the family. The ghost patterned paper has been in my stash for many years and it's by Adorn It from the Hocus Pocus collection. Silver glimmer paper by Stampin' Up! was used for the BOO die cut. The little bat is from a punch by Stampin' Up! and the ghost and cat are both dies from the set. That's it!

Challenges entered: Lil Patch of Crafty Friends (Anything Goes), Pause Dream Enjoy (Cards Any Theme),  Simon Says (Halloween/Spooky) and Die Cut Divas (Autumn/Halloween).

Candy Rabbit Halloween Card

Hello! Hopefully you're having a great week. I'm still working on my Halloween cards so I can get them in the mail on time. To make this Candy Rabbit Halloween Card I used the sketch from the Inky Paws Challenge. The images and sentiment are from the Hoppy Halloween stamp set by Newton's Nook. Since mixing patterned papers is one of my favorite parts about making handmade cards, I used three different papers on this card. The candy paper is from the Trick or Treat paper pad by Pebbles (2016), purple watercolor by Ms. Sparkle & Co (Joann's) and Cool Lime paper by The Paper Studio. Some retired Halloween twine from Stampin' Up! was added and then the focal circle adhered with dimensionals. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Halloween Trio Card

Good day crafty friends! It's getting closer to Halloween and I'm behind on making my cards. I got a really bad sinus cold a couple of weeks ago and I'm just now starting to feel better. It's been years since I got a cold that bad and I didn't want to contaminate my crafting supplies. So that means I'll start making multiples of the cards I create instead of many different designs. I made three of this Halloween Trio Card. The design is all the same but the patterned papers change and the colors used on the image vary some. Distress oxide inks were used to create the background and then it was die cut with a deckle die by Tim Holtz. The image is by Newton's Nook and it's called Halloween Trio. A coordinating die was used the cut out the image and the little bats are from the same set. The yellow moon was added and that's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Hoppy Halloween Card

Hello! I hope you had time to make a card today during World Cardmaking Day. We ran errands this afternoon and then I took a nap, finally this evening I made this Hoppy Halloween Card. The stamp set is called Hoppy Halloween and it's by Newton's Nook. It coordinated perfectly with the candy patterned paper from the Trick or Treat paper pad by Pebbles (2016). Some twine and three glimmer dots finished the card and that's it.

Halloween Shaker Card

It's time to shake things up and make a shaker card to play along with the challenge at Simply Create Too. The design team has created some fantastic inspiration, click HERE for all the challenge details. We hope to see your shaker card in the gallery! You have until October 26th, 2018 to link your creation.

This Halloween Shaker Card is actually my first shaker card. I watched a couple of videos and it really isn't as hard as I expected. The scalloped frame die and stamps are from Newton's Nook. Copic markers were used to color the image and the coordinating dies were used to cut out the image. The bat paper is from the Trick or Treat paper pad by Pebbles (2016) and the grass paper was a scrap from my stash. A selection of sequins were added for the shaker element and everything was assembled. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Halloween Card with a Cat

A big welcome to the month of October!!! I love making Halloween cards and especially Halloween Cards with a Cat. It may be traditional to use black cats at Halloween but I decided to color this cat as a gray tabby. The image and sentiment are from the Newton's Boo-tiful Night stamp set by Newton's Nook. It was stamped with Memento black ink and colored with Copic markers. The coordinating die was used to cut out the image. On the focal area Wilted Violet distress ink was applied with a sponge dauber and then some green grass was added. All papers are from the Not Too Spooky paper pad by Pink & Main. The colors were selected to play along with the Inky Paws color challenge to use: Lime Green, Yellow, Orange and Purple. This is definitely my favorite Halloween color combination! To add a little sparkle three silver sequins were added and that's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Cute Hoppy Halloween Card

Hello! It's another Monday and I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was pretty uneventful, but that's okay. We ran errands and did a few things around the house and that was it.

For this Cute Hoppy Halloween Card I decided to get a little inky with the background. Using mixed media paper and distress inks in: Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint, Scattered Straw, Abandoned Coral, Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves. Once the ink colors were blended I used a distress sprayer with water to lift some color, blotting with a paper towel. Then I used the heat gun to speed the drying process. The images are from Newton's Nook Hoppy Halloween stamp set, which I absolutely LOVE. Copic markers were used to color the images and then coordinating dies were used. The patterned paper is from the Boos & Brews paper pad by Doodlebug Designs, Inc. To accent the focal area a piece of green patterned paper was die cut with a retired edgelit die by Stampin' Up!. Then I decided to add two black bats using the Newton's Boo-tiful Night die set by Newton's Nook. Everything was adhered to a piece of Grape Delight cardstock by Bazzill and then adhered to the white card base. That's it! So glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Penguin Halloween Card

Hooray for Friday! Halloween is a little over six weeks away which gives me plenty of time to make my Halloween cards. If I make two a week that will give me the right amount to send to family and friends. Most of them are one of a kind designs, but sometimes I'll make two if I get rushed. Here is my first Penguin Halloween Card. Isn't this the cutest Halloween stamp? It's called Penguin Spook Nite by Whimsy Stamps. Copic markers were used to color the image and then it was fussy cut. The background panel was made with distress inks and watered down white acrylic paint for the splatter. A piece of chevron paper from the Not Too Spooky paper pad by Pink & Main was used to help pull the colors together. Two punched bats were added for detail and that's it. So glad you stopped by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Hoppy Halloween Card

Do you love making cards for Halloween? It's one of my favorite holidays to make cards! To send to my family and friends I make at least a dozen cards, sometimes more. I love the colors, patterned papers and the fun dressed up characters. Last week Newton's Nook released several new Halloween stamp sets and my favorite is the Hoppy Halloween set. It's hard for me to resist anything with cute bunnies! Needless to say this set immediately went into my shopping cart. Stamp LOVE... it's a thing!!!

To make this Hoppy Halloween Card I selected some of my favorite Halloween patterned papers form the Boos & Brews paper pad by Doodlebug Designs. The image was colored with Copic markers and die cut with the coordinating dies. A spider web border punch by Fiskars was used with white cardstock for detail and the sentiment was heat embossed. That's it! I'm glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

Cat Halloween Card

Happy Halloween! I'm sharing the last card I made for Halloween 2017. It features an image by Bugaboo digi stamps that I colored over two years ago and it was just sitting on my desk. It was already matted just begging to be used on a card. So... I used some patterned paper by Pebbles and made this Cat Halloween Card for my cousin in Texas. The spiderweb edge punch is by Fiskars, some twine by Stampin' Up! and the outside sentiment is from Newton's Nook. I decided to decorate the inside of the card with a die cut spiderweb with spider and sentiment both by Impression Obsession and and that's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Skinny Halloween Card

This week I was looking through all my scraps of cardstock and decided to make a Skinny Halloween Card. If you're like me and have a couple of bins full of scraps... then this size of card may help you use some of those scraps. The finished size is 3.5" x 6" and it fits perfectly into a standard # 6 3/4 envelope. The bat and sentiment are from the retired Cheer All Year stamp set by Stampin' Up!. After stamping and fussy cutting the bats I decided to add black Wink of Stella to make them sparkle. There is nothing fancy about this card, which is one of the reasons I like it. The striped patterned paper is from the Trick or Treat paper pad by Pebbles and that's it! A simple and easy Halloween card.

Halloween Cat Card

Another card for World Card Making Day! This Halloween Cat Card was pretty easy to make. I started with a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock by Stampin' Up! and sponged on Basic Gray ink with a sponge dauber and a sky border die cut by Newton's Nook. Then I went back and sponged black distress ink to add more depth. The next step was using a sponge brayer and Smoky Slate ink over the clouds to add more shading. Crushed Curry cardstock was used for the stitched circle die cut moon and it was sponged with Crushed Curry ink. The cat is a new punch by Stampin' Up! and the grass is a Fiskars punch. Crushed Curry twine was added for detail along with a strip of Smoky Slate that was stamped Happy Halloween with a fish tail end. That's it! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Newton Meow-oween Card

My crafty mojo has been on the fritz lately! I've had a really hard time getting motivated to make anything... cards or sewing. With Halloween getting closer I need to make a few more cards for my family and friends, so this afternoon I sat down and got inky. The current Inky Paws Challenge #56 at Newton's Nook is a color challenge to use: Purple, Orange, Black and White. My mind was on a spooky sky using these colors. Using a piece of watercolor paper, Aqua Painters along with Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango inks by Stampin' Up! the background panel was started. Once dry I decided to get more inky. First I punched a circle and die cut a strip of clouds using the Sky Borders Die Set by Newton's Nook then sponged on Wilted Violet distress ink. To brighten the cloud area I sponged on white kraft ink by Stampin' Up! this did brighten the area but it also made the clouds have a pink hue... which I like. Some black grass was punched using a Fiskars grass punch and the sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder. The sentiment and images are from the Newton's Perfect Pumpkin stamp set by Newton's Nook. Memento black ink was used to stamp the images and they were colored with Copic markers. Then I did some fussy-cutting. To finish the sky three black bats were stamp around the moon and that's it.

This Newton Meow-oween Card is entered into the following challenges:

The sky on my card was inspired by this photo I took back in January 2015. When I left work one evening this was the view over Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Newton Halloween Card

Happy Tuesday! I mail around a dozen cards for Halloween to family and friends. Since it will be here next month I decided to get a start on my cards. To create this Newton Halloween Card I used the sketch from Newton's Inky Paws Challenge. When I first saw the sketch I thought it would make a cool moon card. The flying broom and kitty image from the Newton's Boo-tiful Night stamp set was the best choice to use in front of the moon.

To start I made the moon using watercolor paper and distress oxide inks in Antique Linen and Fossilized Amber. A small amount of Frayed Burlap was added to the edges of the moon, then it was spritzed with water and a heat gun used to speed the drying process. Then I made the sky background with distress oxide inks in Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves and Black Soot on mixed media paper. The same process was used, spritz with water and heat set. Once this panel was dried I heat embossed several stars with Wow! Glow-in-the-Dark embossing powder and the sentiment with white embossing powder. The white strip of paper was stamped with the little bat. Newton was colored with Copic markers and then fussy-cut. Next everything was assembled and adhered flat for easy mailing. I decided it needed a little more sparkle, so I added three star sequins and that's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Monsters and Ghouls Card

Halloween may still be a few months away but the theme challenge this week at Tuesday Throwdown is Monster Mash. It definitely doesn't have to be a Halloween creation but it's one of my favorite holidays to make cards. Our sponsor this week is Sasayaki Glitter and the owner Naz Smith has several fun monster images to choose from. My Monsters and Ghouls Card features the Halloween Monster Family image and it was colored using Copic markers. The design team has some wonderful inspiration to share with you, click here for the design team inspiration and challenge details. I hope to see your monster creation in the gallery this week!

Happy Haunting Card with Bats

Happy Halloween crafty friends! I have a quick post to share my latest card. This Happy Haunting Card with Bats was started last year and then set aside until I finally remembered it today and finished it. I've always liked repeated images in threes, the trickiest part is getting the spacing right. All stamps and paper for this card are retired by Stampin' Up!. Some clear Wink of Stella was added to the bats for sparkle and that's it.

Well, we have our front yard decorated and we're ready for trick-or-treating kiddos any minute. Wishing you a Hauntingly Fun Halloween night!
