Turtley Awesome Card

Good day crafty friends! It's been a few weeks since I've played in my craft room. At the end of June, I broke a lower wisdom tooth and had to have it removed. It went well, but I sure hope I don't have to do that again.

Today, I finally felt like crafting again, so I made this Turtley Awesome Card. The images and sentiment are by Gerda Steiner. To color the images Copic markers were used and a dab of glossy accents added to the turtles eyes. The floral paper is from the Lots of Love paper pad by Doodlebug Design. The background behind the turtles was made using Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint. Everything was adhered flat and that's it. So glad you stopped by and enjoy the rest of your day!🐢

Birthday Card with Flowers

Good day! The month of May is my birthday month, so I always make myself a card. This Birthday Card with Flowers is this years creation. It features my favorite color, purple, and some lovely embossed flowers. The background stencil and floral cut and emboss folder are both by Pink & Main. Distress inks were used to color the flowers and background. The Happy Birthday sentiment and die cut are from Unity Stamps. Everything was adhered flat and that's it. You're Cool Card

Hello! This afternoon I made this You're Cool Card to give to our veterinarian staff. We had an appointment for Tommy's three month x-rays after his surgery to make sure there were no more tumors growing back. Thankfully his x-rays look good!!! We will do x-rays again in six months, but today I am very relieved.

To create this You're Cool Card I used the challenge colors at Inky Paws. Although my green might be a tad too bright. The stamp set is called Newton's Summer Treats by Newton's Nook and the image was colored with Copic markers. Using Scattered Straw distress ink I created the background using the ink smooshing technique. The layers were cut out using the Frames and Flags die set by Newton's Nook. Everything was adhered flat and three sequins added for a little sparkle. That's it! So glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Leaf Fall Greetings Card

Hooray... It's officially Fall!!! Now, I just need the cooler weather to arrive. It will still be about a month before the leaves turn colors here in Oklahoma. We have two maple trees in our yard. One tree turns a reddish orange and the other turns yellow. So, for this Leaf Fall Greetings Card I used the ink smooshing technique using distress inks: Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Aged Mahogany. The image is from Unity Stamps called Thankful Leaf by Graciellie Designs. The scallops & rectangles nesting dies by Unity Stamps was also used. To finish it off a sentiment from the Bountiful Fall stamp set by Unity Stamps was added. The papers are from the Fall Forest Mat Stack by DCWV (2019). Everything was adhered flat and that's it. Good day! This afternoon I saw the challenge at Simon Says is Fun With Stencils, so I decided to play along. I used the Tumbling Leaves stencil with distress inks in Bundled Sage and Speckled Egg by Ranger/Tim Holtz. The stencil was used directly onto a piece of white brick paper by The Paper Studio and it was matted to a piece of retired Baha Breeze cardstock by Stampin' Up!. The One Day at a Time sentiment is from Verve Stamps and two little butterflies were added from my stash. That's it! So glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Snowman Card with Pink

Good day! After the hot summer here in Oklahoma I'm definitely ready for snow. We don't get a lot of snow, usually enough to cover the ground and make driving difficult, but I love watching it fall.

 For this Snowman Card with Pink I used the Feeling Frosty stamp and die sets by Sunny Studio Stamps. The background trees were stenciled with the Sunny Studio Forest Trees stencil using tumbled glass distress ink. While making this card I made several little "oops", so I used the saying by Bob Ross "We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents." To cover my happy little accident I added snowflakes to the four corners of the card. I had made a small rip in one corner of the pink frame and it was driving me crazy, but now you would never know it's there. Everything was adhered flat and that's it. Too Legit Card

Good day! It's been awhile since I made my hubby a card. So, I used the fun Hip Hop Bunny stamp set by Taylored Expressions and made him this Too Legit Card. When I met my hubby back in college he had a yellow boom box and we still have it on a shelf in our garage. 😃 It only made sense that I colored the boom box yellow. The background was created using Salty Ocean distress ink and a triangle toss stencil by Taylored Expressions. Happy Harvest Card

Hooray... Autumn/Fall has arrived!!! I've been counting down the days to cooler weather and we had a small front come through but the warmer weather is predicted to return. So, I will be patient and wait for the next cool front to arrive. 🍂

This Happy Harvest Card features two stamp sets by Lawn Fawn. The Happy Harvest stamp set and the Let's Go Nuts stamp set (squirrel). All images were stamped with Memento black ink and colored with Copic markers. The blue sky was made using Tumbled Glass distress ink and the ink smooshing technique. A frame was die cut using a piece of Lawn Fawn patterned paper and an Avery Elle reverse pinked die. Everything was adhered flat for easy shipping, although I may keep this one for myself. Bluebird Fall Card

Hello! I'm eagerly anticipating the arrival of fall and the cooler weather. Only a few more days to wait!🍂

While in my craft room yesterday I knocked over a stack of paper and found a inky background paper I made with distress inks a few years back. So, I decided before I lose it again that I would use it. It's layered behind a birch tree die cut using a die from Simon Says Stamp (S655). The images are from the Garden Friends stamp set by Hello Bluebird, except for the leaves they were in my stash of extras. All the images were colored with Copic markers and die cut with the coordinating dies. A hello fall sentiment (retired Stampin' Up!) was added and I inked some antique linen distress ink around the edges. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!🍂

Sympathy Card with Trees

Good day! Today I'm sharing a Sympathy Card with Trees that I made using the No Better Words sentiment kit by Unity Stamps. The card is for a friend who lost her father, so I wanted to make a more masculine sympathy card. First I inked up a piece of white cardstock using Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass and Broken China distress inks. Then I stamped the sentiment, trees and birds with Memento black ink. For the clouds I used Smokey Slate ink by Stampin' Up!. The inked panel was adhered to a retired piece of patterned paper by Stampin' Up! and then adhered to the plaid paper from the retired Plaid Tidings dsp by Stampin' Up!. Winter Wreath - TMS #586

Welcome! It's time to wrap up the end of the year at Tuesday Morning Sketches and that means we are having our annual Anything Goes challenge. Click HERE for all the details and design team inspiration. For this challenge it doesn't have to be a card, so I made a Winter Wreath (see below). I wanted something I could leave up all winter and enjoy. It started with a 10" foam wreath that I wrapped in ribbon. There are two layers of ribbon, the top ribbon is more sheer and has glitter and the bottom ribbon is a satin ribbon in the same color. Then I took a piece of mixed media paper and cut it into a circle to fit behind the wreath. The sky was made with the ink smooshing technique using distress inks and then sprayed with some white distress spray. A piece of Pixie Dust glitter paper by Lawn Fawn was used for the snow which was cut with a stitched land border die. All images and trees were made using products by Newton's Nook. The snowman and birds are from the Festive Fawns stamp set and were colored with Copic markers. The little caroling mouse is from the Caroling Newton stamp set and the die cut trees were made using the Forest Scene Builder die set. To finish it off five snowflake sequins were added and that's it.

Dove Card - TMS #580

Hello! It seems like last week drug on forever but it's Tuesday again and time to start another new sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches. Fall Card with Squirrels

 

Hello and happy World Card Making Day! I hope you have time to make a card or two today. My crafty mojo has been pretty low lately, but that hasn't stopped me from buying new stamps and supplies. One of my latest purchases included the new Let's Go Nuts stamp set and Tree Before 'n Afters by Lawn Fawn. Aren't these squirrels super cute? I just adore this stamp set! So, today I decided to make this Fall Card with Squirrels. The images were colored with Copic markers and then die cut with the coordinating dies. To make the sky background I used Tumbled Glass distress ink and used the smooshing technique. The grass was cut with a tiny wavy scalloped die by Simon Says Stamp. Once everything was cut out I assembled the scene and adhered it to a piece of patterned paper from the Into The Woods Remix paper pad by Lawn Fawn. Faux Patina Card - TMS #559

Good day crafty friends! This weeks sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches is wide open for your creative interpretation. I looked through lots of patterned paper but I decided to use the Faux Patina technique. It combines embossing, ink blending and heat embossing. Have you ever tried it? I looked back to see the last time I did this technique and it was almost two years ago. Here is some other Faux Patina Cards I've created over the years. This Faux Patina Card is linked to the Allsorts embossing challenge. After I made my card I was doing some cleaning and found a package of Toner Card Fronts sold by Unity called Butterfly Fly Away. So, I decided to finally get my new laminating machine out of the box and give foiling a try. Green Monochrome Sympathy Card

Hello! Last week the husband of one of my cousins unexpectedly passed away. They are young and had only been married a couple of years. I know her heart is broken and her world has turned upside down. This Green Monochrome Sympathy Card is one I made to send to my Aunt and Uncle who live next door to my cousin. They are all very close and it's been such a shock to all of them. There isn't a lot I can do, but I can make them cards to show my support.

This card was made using various colors of green inks. I started with a piece of white cardstock and used a brayer to add a light green ink all over then added a slightly darker green to the edges. Then the Blossom layering stencil by Tim Holtz was used with Peeled Paint distress ink. The flowers are from the Bloom Brighter stamp set by Verve Stamps and were stamped with Mossy Meadow ink by Stampin' Up!. Three leaf sprigs were stamped from the Lawn Fawn Fab Flowers stamp set using Garden Green ink by Stampin' Up! and the stenciled panel was adhered to a piece of Garden Green cardstock. Newton Autumn Greetings Card

Hello! I have a quick post to share my latest card. It's an Autumn Card to play along with the color challenge at Inky Paws. Are you ready for Autumn? I know I am!!! I'm much happier when there is a cool breeze in the air. For those of you counting down the days there is 33 days until the official start to Fall/Autumn here in the United States.

This Newton Autumn Greetings Card uses two different stamp sets by Newtons's Nook. The main image is from the Autumn Newton Stamp set and the sentiment and gourd image is from the Harvest Tails stamp set. Copic markers were used to color the images and the coordinating dies to cut them out. Distress inks in Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint were used on the focal panel using the ink smooshing technique. The patterned papers are from the Happy Camper paper pad by We R Memory Keepers and that's it. This card is also entered into the animal challenge at Crafty Sentiments Designs. Happy Place Card

It's time to say good-bye to July! Each day we get closer to Fall and that makes me happy. The sunshine is great but I prefer the crisp breeze of Fall.

This Happy Place Card was made using the new Newton's Birdhouse stamp along with the Frames and Flags die set by Newton's Nook. Copic markers were used to color the image and the coordinating die to cut it out. I did a little ink smooshing using Tumbled Glass distress ink and added some green grass punched with a Fiskars grass punch. A piece of patterned paper from the Sunshowers paper pad by Heidi Grace Designs was used and that's it. Otterly Amazing Card

Hello! I hope all is well in your world today. This afternoon I read the challenge at Simon Says Stamp was to make your own background, so I decided to play along. After finding a couple of masculine challenges at Watercooler Wednesday and Use Your Stuff this Otterly Amazing Card was in the works. The stamp set used is called Otter Friends by Hello Bluebird and I totally feel in love with it the minute I saw it. After coloring the images with Copic markers they were die cut with the coordinating dies. To make the background I used distress inks in Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire. The outer paper started with Sahara Sand cardstock by Stampin' Up! and it was inked with Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap distress inks. Water was spritzed onto the inked papers and some color dabbed away. The heat gun was used to help speed the drying process. A Memory Box die called Underwater Collage was used and the images positioned onto the card. The final addition was the heat embossed sentiment and that's it. Newton You're Cool Card

Happy Friday! There are only minutes left to enter the Inky Paws color challenge #101 using red, pink, lime green and light brown. Even though I started my card days ago, it was just finished. There were lots of distractions this week at my house!

To make this card I did some ink smooshing using worn lipstick distress ink and mixed media paper. The green patterned paper is from the Tutti Frutti paper pad by My Mind's Eye and it was die cut using the Newton's Nook Frames and Flags die set. After stamping the image from the Newton's Summer Treats stamp set it was colored with Copic markers and die cut with the coordinating die. Three sequins were added for sparkle and everything was adhered flat for easy shipping. So glad you stopped by!
