Brightly Colored Note Card

Hello! It's beginning to look like Spring outside. My daffodils have bloomed and the trees are budding. So, I decided to make a Brightly Colored Note Card using papers from Doodlebug Design and an image by Whipper Snapper Designs. The paper is from the Hello Sunshine paper pad (2014) and it's been in my stash for a very long time. I liked this paper so much that I bought three of the paper pads. The Just a Note sentiment is retired by Stampin' Up! and I used some very retired oval punches also by Stampin' Up!. The layout is one we used at Tuesday Morning Sketches back in 2019 (click here for link). It worked perfectly for the image size. Everything was adhered flat and that's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!🦋

Butterfly Card with Foil

Good day! We are getting some rain today, so I've postponed my Monday errands. Instead, I'm sharing this Butterfly Card with Foil that I finally finished. The butterfly design is a toner card front from Unity Stamps and I used distress inks to color, then wiped it well with a paper towel before foiling. To finish the card I added a purple embossed strip and one day at a time sentiment and that's it. I'm entering this card into the Beyond The Blue, Foiled Again! challenge. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!🦋

Make Me Smile Card

Hello! I have a quick post to share this Make Me Smile Card that I made inspired by the upcoming arrival of Spring. It makes me happy when the butterflies and flowers return. The dull winter landscape can definitely use some color about now. To make this card I used the Newton's Flower Garden stamp set and colored the images with Copic markers. The oval dies are from Avery Elle and the Patterned paper is from the Sun & Fun paper pad by Pebbles (2019). Everything was adhered flat and that's it. So glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!🦋

Some Bunny Card - TMS #648

Hello! Today is my last design team post for Tuesday Morning Sketches. It's been an honor and joy to be part of the team. The bone spurs on my hips make it painful to sit for extended periods of time. So, what used to take me a couple of hours to make now takes a couple of days to complete. I'll still be making cards, but surgery and recovery are in my future.

I do hope you will join us this week using my last sketch. The design team did a fantastic job and you can find their inspiration and challenge details HERE. For my card I used the Hoppy Greetings image and coordinating die by Newton's Nook. Copic markers were used to color the image. The patterned papers are from the Hello Easter paper pad by Echo Park (2018). Since the background paper has lots of fun words, I decided to leave the sentiment off where it's indicated on the sketch. Everything was adhered flat for easy shipping and that's it. Thanks for stopping by!🐇

Tenth Year Blogiversary

Wow! Today marks the tenth year since I started this Savvy Handmade Cards blog. I want to thank all of my followers! As of today I have 196 followers and 622,484 page views. It's amazing how much has changed in the past ten years. When I started making handmade cards I used a lot of stickers for images and sentiment stamps. Over the years my stamp collection has grown and now I color a lot of my images with Copic markers and use coordinating dies to cut them out with my Big Shot. I still love using patterned paper! There is just something about pretty/cute paper that makes me happy. I don't know what's in store for the next ten years, but I've enjoyed sharing my handmade cards with you. 😊

This Tiger WOWzers Card was made for my niece. She is a senior in high school and has decided to attend East Central University, where I graduated, to pursue her education. The university mascot is a tiger, so I couldn't resist using the Tabby Tigers stamp set from Whimsy Stamps. To add some detail I used the Connected Rectangle die from Whimsy Stamps. Everything was adhered flat and three sequins added for some sparkle. That's it! I'm so glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Food Friends Card - TMS #647

Hello! This week at Tuesday Morning Sketches we have a fun sketch where you can make your own scene. Some of my favorite cards are scene cards. Although I do have to admit, once I make them I have a hard time parting with them. For that reason I prefer simple scenes when I'm creating a card. So, whether you like simple or elaborate scenes, we would love for you to join us this week. For all the challenge details and design team inspiration click HERE. I hope to see your creation in the gallery!

To create this Food Friends Card I used a stamp set by Newton's Nook called Woodland Picnic. Once the images were stamped they were colored with Copic markers and then die cut with the coordinating dies. The patterned papers are from the Summer Lovin' paper pad by Carta Bella (2014). Some die cut grass and sun were included in the scene and everything was adhered flat. That's it! I'm entering this Food Friends Card into the Food and Drink challenge at Make My Monday. So glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
