Girly Dino Birthday Card

Hooray for the weekend! It's going to be a cold one, but I'm okay with that. Cold weather makes wonderful crafting days. I have a quick post to share this Girly Dino Birthday Card I made to play along with Day 4 of the Monster Birthday Bash at Catch The Bug. It's a bingo challenge and I used Die Cuts (stars), player's choice (sentiment) and Stripes. I've used this Dino Birthday image before but I always made cards for boys. This time it's girly and I think it turned out pretty cute. The papers are from the It's a Celebration paper pad by Echo Park (2014) and the pink stripes are by Stampin' Up!. Copic markers were used to color the image and the sentiment stamp is by Hero Arts. To finish it off three die cut stars were added and that's it. So glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Dinosaur Birthday Card

Happy Friday! Last week I printed out the sketch for the Stella Says Sketch challenge at Catch The Bug and I finally made this Dinosaur Birthday Card to play along. The hardest part was deciding on the patterned papers. In the end I decided on the Lawn Fawn plaid with blue and orange watercolor papers from ms. sparkle & co., luckily the colors matched well. The image is called Dino Birthday by Bugaboo Digi Stamps and it was hand colored with Copic markers. To finish the card three yellow candy dots and the Happy Birthday sentiment were added and that's it. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.

Hey Birthday Chick Card

Happy Friday! Today kicks off the start to my birthday weekend. So I made this Hey Birthday Chick Card to celebrate. The layout design for this card was inspired by a card I found while searching online for a fun layout and you can see it HERE. I was immediately drawn to the purple and green colors she used, which are my favorites, but I wanted mine to look different. It's been awhile since I got a little fussy with a card, so this one has several layers, stitching and a single flower embellishment. I contemplated several color combinations but decided the pinks and greens looked pretty with the yellow chick from the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set by Unity Stamps. The image was colored with Copic makers and most of the patterned papers are from the Spring Fling paper pad by Pebbles (2015). Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

To make this card I started by selecting my colours using the photo inspiration at Crafting When We Can. This led me to some retired papers by Stampin' Up! from the Cherry on Top paper pad. The owl image was stamped, colored with Copic markers and die cut with a stitched circle die by My Favorite Things. A second balloon was stamped and fussy-cut. The Hoot! Hoot! Hooray! sentiment was stamped directly onto the patterned paper and three sequins were added for a little sparkle. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Balloon Kitty Birthday Card

There are several wonderful blog hops going on right now! I decided to combine The Cat Lovers Hop with The Hop to Stop raising awareness for domestic violence. That meant I needed to use purple and a cat... no problem! A few other challenges helped to inspire this Balloon Kitty Birthday Card and here they are:
It's been awhile since I've used a stencil and I'm ashamed to admit the Quarterfoil one I used today sit new in a drawer for over a year. I need to break my patterned paper addiction and make more of my own backgrounds, but it's SO hard!!! The stencil is from Clear Scraps and Lavender dye ink by Hampton Art along with Purple Passion powder puff by Quick Quotes were used for color. This adorable kitty image is from Whimsy Stamps and the birthday sentiment is from Hero Arts. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Floats Your Goat Birthday Card

Making a handmade card for my dad is getting harder every year. I've done trucks, tractors, monkeys, etc... so this year I'm using a goat with balloons. The sentiment and image by Doodle Pantry crack me up! My dad raises sheep but my mother might say that he acts like an old goat. Hopefully this Floats Your Goat Birthday Card will make him laugh.

The image comes with a colored or non-colored version. I used the colored version to save a little time and die cut it with a stitched circle die by My Favorite Things. The patterned papers were in my scrap bin. Everything was adhered flat and three green sequins were added for a little sparkle.

Kind Koala for The Paper Players

Happy Sunday! I'm glad you stopped by to check out my latest card for The Paper Players challenge. This week is a Clean-and-Simple Child's Birthday theme challenge from LeAnne. I was a little scared when I first read this challenge for a couple of reasons. First, my supplies of children related stamps is almost nonexistent and second, clean-and-simple is always a challenge. My only good option was to alter the Kind Koala stamp and combine it with a balloon stamp to give it a different purpose. Thinking I had stumbled onto an original idea I did a quick Google search and found the talented Brian King had beat me to it. That's okay, my card looks completely different. The patterned paper is from the discontinued Sunshine & Sprinkles dsp and I colored the Koala with Cool Gray Copic markers. Do you consider paper pieced balloons simple? I wasn't sure, so I did it anyway. To get the stamps to line up I stamped a masked portion of the balloon image onto the white cardstock. Then I stamped a masked portion of the Koala stamp onto a different piece of cardstock which was then fussy-cut and aligned under the balloons. The string was drawn on and then I stamped the birthday wishes at the bottom. It wasn't hard but it was time consuming and I really like how it turned out. Isn't the Koala cute with balloons? Since I spent so much time on this card I'm also entering it into the Seize the Birthday Anything Goes Birthday Challenge.

Need some more inspiration? Check out the marvelous clean-and-simple cards The Paper Players design team created! We can't wait to see your card in the gallery! The challenge is open until Noon (PST)  on Friday, August 22nd. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Balloons Birthday Card

I was not happy with the card I made on Friday for the CAS-ual Friday challenge.  So today I made another one.  The challenge is to use two circles and the card Friday I used some cute little brads but yes they are round.  I asked my husband how many circles he saw on the card and he said eight.  Well, eight is not two.  This Balloons Birthday Card was made for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge and the Moxie Fab birthday challenge.  The balloons are paper pieced from some fun patterned paper scraps and the buttons are the two circles.  If your looking for more great card inspiration, click on the links and check out the other entries.
