Halloween Shaker Card

It's time to shake things up and make a shaker card to play along with the challenge at Simply Create Too. The design team has created some fantastic inspiration, click HERE for all the challenge details. We hope to see your shaker card in the gallery! You have until October 26th, 2018 to link your creation.

This Halloween Shaker Card is actually my first shaker card. I watched a couple of videos and it really isn't as hard as I expected. The scalloped frame die and stamps are from Newton's Nook. Copic markers were used to color the image and the coordinating dies were used to cut out the image. The bat paper is from the Trick or Treat paper pad by Pebbles (2016) and the grass paper was a scrap from my stash. A selection of sequins were added for the shaker element and everything was assembled. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Colored Bookmark

Hello and happy Friday! It's time for the start of a new challenge at Simply Create Too and this time we would like you to Make a Bookmark. August is a great month to make bookmarks for all those kiddos going back to school. For all the challenge details and design team inspiration click HERE. Simply Create Too is a monthly challenge, so you have until August 31st to link your bookmark creation. Hope to see your entry in the gallery!

The coloring bookmarks came from a coloring and creativity book called Super Cute World by Jane Maday. Since my Prismacolor pencils don't get the attention they deserve, this was a good time to put them to use. Two bookmarks were colored and adhered front and back to a piece of Call Me Clover cardstock by Stampin' Up!. I used a Scotch laminating sheet to finish the bookmark and then added some twine. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Masculine Congratulations Card

Happy Friday! It's hard to believe June has already arrived, although it's felt like June for the last couple of weeks here in Oklahoma. It seems we skipped Spring and went straight to Summer. Not my favorite time of year, but I'll suffer through it. Fall will always be my favorite!

Today starts a new challenge at Simply Create Too and the theme is For A Male. The challenge runs until June 29, 2018, so you have plenty of time to play along. Click HERE for all the challenge details and design team inspiration. I hope to see your card in the gallery!

This Masculine Congratulations Card was made for my brother because he recently obtained a new job. The brown die cut had been sitting on my desk for awhile (Glass Effects die by Spellbinders). It was almost used for another project and then I went with different colors. To cover up some blemishes, I painted the cardstock with Rich Espresso Metallic paint. The light blue background was created with watercolor paper and spray inks. It turned out okay but I wish the colors contrasted more. The congratulations is a die cut from Impression Obsession and I also painted it with the metallic paint. To finish the card three glitter stickers by Jolee's were added and that's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Favorite Colors Card

Good day! It's been a couple of months since the team I'm part of at Simply Create Too provided inspiration for the monthly challenge. This month the theme is Favorite Colors! I was excited to put together my Favorite Colors Card using Green and Purple. It doesn't matter what shade of green and purple, I love them all. We would love for you to play along this month! Click HERE for all the challenge details and design team inspiration.

When deciding what type of card I wanted to make with my favorite colors, I looked through some new supplies that hadn't been used and decided to make a floral card. All papers and stamps used on this card are by Stampin' Up! The stamps are from the Birthday Blooms stamp set, the green pattern paper is from the Fresh Florals dsp, the black is from a retired neutrals paper pad and the cardstock colors include Perfect Plum and Basic Black. Copic markers were used to color the image. I debated about adding sequins but decided it really didn't need it. Sometimes less is more! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you play along at Simply Create Too with your favorite colors.

For You Faux Patina Card

Hello and happy September 1st! I'm always happy when September arrives because that means Fall isn't too far behind. Today is also the start of a new challenge at Simply Create Too and this month the theme is Ribbon and Buttons. The challenge runs through September 29th! You can find all the challenge details and design team inspiration HERE. I hope you will play along!

For my card I decided to use the Faux Patina technique with a button embossing folder by Darice. If this technique is new to you click HERE for a video tutorial. The ink colors used include: Crumb Cake, Soft Sky, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Lost Lagoon and Island Indigo all by Stampin' Up! and Tumbled Glass distress ink by Ranger. The embossing powder is by Recollections and the color is Champagne. It's more subtle than gold but I like the way it looks with the colors. The finished faux patina panel was matted to a piece of Island Indigo cardstock and then some retired Pool Party ribbon was wrapped around flat. A stitched die cut square was matted to Island Indigo and then a For You die cut from Bermuda Bay cardstock was adhered and then added to the front with dimensionals. To add some sparkle five sequins were added and that's it. If you've never tried this technique I hope you will give it a try, it's a lot of inky fun. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Handmade Wedding Card

Happy Friday! Today is the start of a new monthly challenge at Simply Create Too and the theme is Wedding. This is the first Handmade Wedding Card I've ever made! I've made several anniversary cards but until now I didn't have a reason to make a Wedding Card. I hope you will join the challenge this month! Click here for the design team inspiration and challenge details.

This Wedding Card was made for a cousin who is getting married in October. I obtained her wedding colors and based my color selections from the image I received. Almost all the supplies on the card are by Stampin' Up!. Current supplies include: Peekaboo Peach and Whisper White cardstock, flowers die cut from random scraps, Big Shot, Bloomin' Heart Thinlit, Marriage sentiment from Flourishing Phrases stamp set, Berry Burst Stampin' Pad, Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and Basic Pearls. The embossing folder is retired. For some extra sparkle I used white fine glitter by Martha Stewart and added it to the heart area. It doesn't show up in the photo but it adds a nice detail in person. That's it!

Owl Graduation Card

Hello! Today is the start of a new challenge at Simply Create Too and this month we want you to use a Digi Stamp. That's a pretty easy challenge, so I hope you will play along and link-up your new creation. Click HERE for all the challenge details and design team inspiration.

While deciding which digi stamp to use on my card I received a graduation announcement for one of my younger cousins. He is graduating high school, so I decided to use this Graduation Owl image by Gerda Steiner Designs. The image was colored with Copic markers and then fussy cut to allow his foot to sit on top of the punched branch. The Congratulations paper and diploma paper are by The Paper Studio. I added a strip of woodgrain paper by Stampin' Up! and then matted the patterned paper to a piece of brick red cardstock by Bazzill. Then the focal circle was adhered flat to the paper. I'll be mailing this card so I didn't want to add any lumps or bumps. That's it!

Lots of Green at Simply Create Too

The month of March is well on it's way and this month is notorious for shamrocks, leprechauns and the color green. Although St. Patrick's Day is not celebrated by everyone, we would love to see Lots of Green in your crafty creations for the challenge at Simply Create Too. The challenge is open for a month, so you have until March 31st to link your creation. Click here to enter the challenge and for all the lovely green inspiration from the design team.

When deciding on the occasion for this card I considered making a St. Patrick's Day card because I do mail a few. However, I send a lot more Easter cards and really wanted to use the hatching chick image by Angie's Stamps. The image was colored with Copic markers and then die cut with a stitched circle die by My Favorite Things. After searching through patterned papers I decided on the small green floral paper by American Crafts from their Heartland Farm collection. To add some contrast I used some Garden Green patterned paper by Stampin' Up! accented with a white scalloped die cut edgelit. The Easter Wishes sentiment is by Studio G and has been in my stash for many years. To finish off the card I added a paper flower with leaves cut with a Cricut machine and a bitty butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set by Stampin' Up! accented with three small pearls. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see your creation in the gallery at Simply Create Too.

New Home Congrats Card

Good day! I'm happy to announce I've joined the Simply Create Too Design Team and today is the beginning of a new challenge. Our theme is New Beginnings and since I'm a Realtor I made a New Home Congrats Card. Other possible themes include New Baby, Weddings, etc. We would love for you to join this challenge! You have until January 27th to link your creations and all the challenge details and design team inspiration can be found HERE. I hope to see your card in the gallery!

Several years back I bought this house stamp by Unity Stamps from a local scrapbook store. It coordinates with a collection of paper by Bella BLVD which I also bought at the time. The paper I've used is from the THANKful collection from 2012 and it's paired with Early Espresso cardstock by Stampin' Up!. I like blues and browns together and by keeping the background subtle the image really pops. The layout for this card is simple and the image was colored with Copic markers. Three sequins accent the die cut congrats sentiment by Impression Obsession and some twine finished it off. That's it! I'm so glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
