Paper Pieced Owl Card

I hope everyone is having a lovely day! Here is my last card for this month. This Paper Pieced Owl Card is full of rich earth tones. The patterned paper is from the Edamame collection from K & Company. This paper has been in my stash for awhile. When I like something a lot, sometimes I don't use it. I hoard it away for "something special".  However, this paper was perfect for the card design. The patchwork design is based off a quilt. I wanted something different, something that you don't see everyday. It's still simple with no fussy details and the paper pieced owl deserves all the attention.  Thanks for stopping by!

Monochromatic Teal Blue Card

To find inspiration for a card creation, I frequently search other blogs and Feline Playful for current challenges. There are numerous challenges on a daily basis to find the perfect creative inspiration. Tonight my inspiration comes from the Dynamic Duos Challenge to use Island Indigo and Pool Party which makes it a monochromatic teal blue colour scheme. I really enjoyed working with both these colours and couldn't wait to share my Monochromatic Teal Blue Card on my blog. I'd like to thank Vicki Burdick for inspiring me to use a new sentiment stamp from the Vintage Verses stamp set available during Stampin' Up!'s Sale-a-bration.  The stamp looks great with the Lacy Brocade embossing folder that I inked up with Island Indigo. To finish off the card I heat embossed the bitty butterfly with Pool Party embossing powder and added a few basic jewels for a little sparkle. Lucky St. Patrick's Day Card

Hello friends! I hope you're having a wonderful week and you're staying warm. It snowed here in Oklahoma yesterday and today we have more chances of freezing rain. Needless to say it's a great day to stay in my craft room!

When it comes to sending St. Patrick's Day cards, my recipient list is small. I send cards to my immediate family and that's not very many. I enjoy making cards for this green shamrock filled holiday. Maybe it's my Irish heritage or maybe it's because I LOVE the color green, but I think making St. Patrick's Day Cards is fun. This Lucky St. Patrick's Day Card is made using Edward Elephant by Bugaboo Digi Stamps, which I colored with Copic markers. The design came from this weeks Sweet Sketch Wednesday by Arlana Patten. Well, that's about it. I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Lucky St. Patrick's Day Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Whisper White, Garden Green, and Basic Black card stock by Stampin' Up! pastel yellow card stock by Core'dinations, Shamrock patterned paper by Recollections, and green/yellow plaid patterned paper by Paper Pizazz.

Vintage Bunny Card

Good evening! I'm really excited to share this Vintage Bunny Card with you!!! This last weekend my husband and I went to an antique show where I found this cute vintage bunny playing card. With Easter on the way, I knew it make make a wonderful embellishment for a handmade Easter card. To create this card I dug deep into my stash and found some coordinating papers from the Tres Jolie collection by My Mind's Eye. The paper was dated 2007, so it's been in my stash for awhile, but it had the look and colors I needed. The design is from this weeks Tuesday Morning Sketch and then I combined a few challenges to come up with this Vintage Bunny Card. Thanks for stopping by!

Pot of Gold St. Patrick's Card

Hello! I hope you're having a wonderful Sunday. I have a quick post to share this Pot of Gold St. Patrick's Card made for the Sketchy Friday challenge. The image and sentiment is from SKdigis Shop and I used my Copics to colour them. Halfway through making my card I almost scraped it. I don't like the horizontal white stripes in the background! I didn't want to cover up the rainbow stripes, but I wanted to follow the sketch. A creative dilemma! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Happy 40th Birthday Card

Hello and Happy Valentine's Day! My hubby and sweetheart is turning 40 today! I wanted this birthday to be memorable and not just because it's a milestone birthday but because it was filled with things he enjoys. He likes Captain America, so I did a theme for his birthday with this iconic Marvel hero. I made this Happy 40th Birthday Card with basic white, blue, and red card stock. I embossed the blue panel and made the shield with circle punches and circles cut with the Cricut machine. I used the Cricut to cut the 40 and shadow layered the numbers. Stamped Happy Birthday with royal blue ink and added a strip of red glitter stars by Recollections for some sparkle. It's a simple layout and one that is versatile for many occasions.

This Happy 40th Birthday Card is entered into the following challenges:
I also made him a cake. When I decorated it I had a migraine, so it's not my best work. I'm thinking he will be impressed that I didn't just go to the store and buy something. It was made with love and in the end that's all that matters.

The patterned paper is by Doodlebug Designs Inc. I hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!

Just a Note of Love

This morning when I read the theme challenge at CAS-ual Fridays was LOVE SONG, there were many songs that popped into my head. There was no way I could pick just one, so I settled on using sheet music. Growing up I took piano lessons and although I don't play often, I love sheet music. Especially vintage sheet music. So, think instrumental classical music, Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 or Chopin's Prelude in E-Minor. The notes are all that matter with no lyrics getting in the way. To start this creative process  I started digging through my stash and realized I needed to make a trip to the craft store, or at least that's the "excuse" I used. Anyway, I found some washi tape with sheet music by Recollections and it was perfect for the card I wanted to create. Now there is no song that feels left out, because they can all be represented with this Just a Note Love Card. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Just a Note Love Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, and Basic Black card stock by Stampin' Up!
  • Other Stuff: Big Shot, Sizzix label die, Cricut machine, George and Basic Shapes cartridge (oval) and Home Accents cartridge (love script), silver heart brads from my stash, washi tape by Recollections, and dimensionals.

Embossed Butterfly Sympathy Card

Since I moved my crafting space into my spare bedroom, it seems I've been getting more accomplished. I added some more organizational storage which has made finding things much easier. I still have a hard time organizing single sheet patterned paper! It seems I'm always digging for that pattern I "know" I have somewhere. Any ideas??? I'm open to suggestion.

Okay- on to my card. When I create a sympathy card I want it to embody the person/family I've created it for. To me, a sympathy card is the most personal card one could receive. Just know, I haven't always felt this way, but death changed me. When my sister passed away suddenly almost two years ago, it was a very hard and emotional experience. From that point the sympathy card earned my respect and understanding of the great value it holds. This Embossed Butterfly Sympathy Card was made for The Paper Players challenge. Although, I didn't make this card for someone, thank goodness, it has the serene look that I like to create. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to hug the ones you love!

Embossed Butterfly Sympathy Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Night of Navy, and Very Vanilla card stock by Stampin' Up!, Core'dinations French Roast sandable card stock, patterned paper by The Paper Studio (Vintage Butterfly and Quaterfoil - Navy/Cream).

Country Chic Love Card

Last night I spent some time creating this Country Chic Love Card. I used the Tuesday Trigger Photo inspiration from Moxie Fab World. Since I grew up in the country, I've taken the clean colors in the photo and given them a Country feel. The style is different for me, I distressed and inked all the edges and did a little sanding. I hope you like it! Different is good, right?
