Floral Koala Card - TMS #555

Good day and welcome back to the start of our new sketch challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches! This weeks sketch is designed by Melissa Craig and I decided to play with patterned paper on my Floral Koala Card. I had some scraps of paper that coordinated with the floral background paper which created a really colorful card. The koala image is by Whipper Snapper Designs and was colored with Copic markers. We would love to see how you use the sketch this week! For all the design team inspiration and challenge details click HERE. Don't forget to link your creation by 8 pm EST on Sunday. Thanks for stopping by!

Koala Nice Day Card

Hello! The summer heat has kicked in and it's super sticky and hot outside. This time of year I run my errands at night and stay indoors all day. Since it feels tropical outside I thought I would make a tropical inspired card to play along with the Inky Paws 100th challenge. The koala image is by Newton's Nook called Pina Koala and it was colored with Copic markers and die cut with the coordinating die. Some fun patterned papers from the Hello Sunshine paper pad by Fancy Pants Designs (2017) were selected. A piece of green apple cardstock stamped with a texture stamp anchors the image and the sentiment is from the Garden Mice stamp set by Newton's Nook. That's it. I hope you're staying cool and enjoy the rest of your day.

Sweet Things Koala Card

Good day crafty friends! This morning I was feeling a little fruity and this cute Koala stamp by Newton's Nook caught my eye. So, I decided to use the Inky Paws current sketch challenge to make this Sweet Things Koala Card. The image was stamped with Memento black ink and colored with Copic markers, then it was die cut with the coordinating die. The pineapple paper is from the Summer Fun paper pad and it was paired with a piece of green chevron paper from the Soak Up the Sun paper pad both by Echo Park. A little black and white gingham is peeking out and it's by The Paper Studio. The sentiment is by Impression Obsession and the yellow and white twine was the finishing touch. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Down Under Stamp Release

Good day crafty friends!!! Today is the launch of a new stamp set by Jessica Lynn Original called Down Under. I had a lot of fun making my cards using the new stamp set. The images came out really crisp and were easy to color with Copic markers. You will definitely want to check out the design team inspiration! Jessica has some amazingly talented ladies who have created some awesome cards using the Down Under stamp set. Click here for the design team blog list.

My first card features the kangaroo image, I really wanted to use my sentiment that says "You are my sunshine," but it was too large for the sentiment area. So, I went with the sentiment "Hey there, Sunshine!" by Verve Stamps. The die cut stitched 1.5" sunshine is by Lil' Inkers and all the patterned paper is from the retired Cherry on Top paper stack by Stampin' Up!

For my second card I used the darling koala image. When selecting my papers I went with more earthy tones from the Autumn Crisp paper pad by American Crafts. The layout is simple and the Miss You sentiment by TPC Studios was stamped directly onto the patterned paper using Memento black ink. Three green sequins were added for some sparkle and that's it!

Jessica is having a giveaway, so make sure you check out the blog for all the giveaway details. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

G'day Mate Koala Card

G'day!!! It's Tuesday and the start of a new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz. This week the theme is World Wildlife and I've used a Koala native to Australia for my inspirational card. Although I've never been to Australia or anywhere outside of the United States, I do think these marsupials are just adorable.

To create this G'day Mate Koala Card I used an image from a set called Aussie Critters by Doodle Pantry and it comes with several images, sentiments and digital papers. The wooden center panel was made using Baked Brown Sugar cardstock and ink and stamped using the Hardwood stamp by Stampin' Up! Then I used my deckle scissors by Fiskars to distress the edges and layered it onto a Smoky Slate piece of cardstock. Next, I added the green paper strip and wrapped the twine three times and adhered entire panel to a black card base. I cut three leaf accents using the Bird Builder punch and Garden Green cardstock and positioned them around the image. The last step was adding the sentiment. That's it!

The next step is for you to find your favorite wild critter stamp and make a card to share with us at Cardz 4 Guyz. Just remember it has to be a masculine design. We would love for you to join us! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

This card is entered into the Cards in Envy: Hey Dude! challenge.

Kind Koala for The Paper Players

Happy Sunday! I'm glad you stopped by to check out my latest card for The Paper Players challenge. This week is a Clean-and-Simple Child's Birthday theme challenge from LeAnne. I was a little scared when I first read this challenge for a couple of reasons. First, my supplies of children related stamps is almost nonexistent and second, clean-and-simple is always a challenge. My only good option was to alter the Kind Koala stamp and combine it with a balloon stamp to give it a different purpose. Thinking I had stumbled onto an original idea I did a quick Google search and found the talented Brian King had beat me to it. That's okay, my card looks completely different. The patterned paper is from the discontinued Sunshine & Sprinkles dsp and I colored the Koala with Cool Gray Copic markers. Do you consider paper pieced balloons simple? I wasn't sure, so I did it anyway. To get the stamps to line up I stamped a masked portion of the balloon image onto the white cardstock. Then I stamped a masked portion of the Koala stamp onto a different piece of cardstock which was then fussy-cut and aligned under the balloons. The string was drawn on and then I stamped the birthday wishes at the bottom. It wasn't hard but it was time consuming and I really like how it turned out. Isn't the Koala cute with balloons? Since I spent so much time on this card I'm also entering it into the Seize the Birthday Anything Goes Birthday Challenge.

Need some more inspiration? Check out the marvelous clean-and-simple cards The Paper Players design team created! We can't wait to see your card in the gallery! The challenge is open until Noon (PST)  on Friday, August 22nd. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Kind Koala Card

Sometimes you just know you have to have something the minute you see it! That's how it was for me with this Kind Koala stamp by Stampin' Up!. It was the first thing I put on my wish list from the new catalog. This is the first card I've made with it and I really love how it turned out. To play along with the Tic Tac Toe challenge at the Paper Players I used twine, patterned paper and embossing. The patterned paper used on this Kind Koala Card is from the All Abloom paper stack. For the embossing I used the Beautiful Wings embosslit for the little butterfly and a discontinued embossing folder from the Needlepoint Border set. The Koala was colored with my Copic markers using the warm gray colors. I stamped the image twice and fussy cut the Koala and adhered with dimensionals. I stamped the flower on blushing bride cardstock, fussy cut it and adhered it flat to the cardstock adding a daffodil delight candy dot to the flower center. The new blushing bride twine was exactly what this card needed and the final ingredient for the Paper Players challenge. Thanks for stopping by and come back soon!

Koala You're So Sweet Card

Good evening! We had a wonderful weekend and I hope you did too. Yesterday I found a fun sketch from The Sweet Stop and I created this Koala You're So Sweet Card to play along. The image is a colored digi called Kiwi Koala's Watermelon by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I sponged on the clouds using two different sizes of scallop circle punches and bashful blue (retired) ink by Stampin' Up!. The patterned paper is from American Crafts and the ribbon is from Offray. I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder. The sentiment is from the Thankful Accents stamp set by Verve Stamps.  The final touch was three soft sky colored Candy Dots by Stampin' Up!. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
