Masculine Faux Patina Card

Greetings! I'm back today with another masculine card for Cardz 4 Guyz. This week the challenge is Something Faux/Let's Pretend. I used one of my favorite techniques called Faux Patina. Click here for a tutorial. I used the Argyle embossing folder by Stampin' Up! to create the background. The ink colors used are: Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Pacific Point and Night of Navy. For the embossed patina, I used Champagne embossing powder by Stampendous!. Once the faux patina panel was complete, I matted it with white and then wrapped the turquoise twine. The panel was then adhered to a larger piece of Night of Navy and then adhered to a 4.25" x 5.5" Old Olive card. The sentiment is by Verve Stamps from the Kind Words stamp set. I used Night of Navy ink and then used a 2" circle punch. I matted the circle to a slightly larger Mossy Meadow scallop circle and adhered with dimensionals. That's it! If you've never tried this technique, I encourage you to give it a try. You will be glad you did!

Now, you should definitely check out the inspiration from the rest of the design team at Cardz 4 Guyz. We hope you will join us this week. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

This Masculine Faux Patina Card is entered into The Crazy Challenge for Embossing.

Purple Monster Valentine Cards

January is going by really fast and my crafting time has been minimal. The last couple of years I've participated in the Cards from the Heart card drive but as of Friday last week I had zero cards completed. I knew I would feel really guilty if I didn't make as many as last year. So, this weekend I employed the help of my mother and ten year old niece. We set up an assembly line and knocked out a dozen pretty quickly. I cut the paper and punched the images. My mom punched the red scallops and adhered all the paper to the cards. My niece adhered the images to the scallops and stamped the XOXO sentiment then punched and adhered to the cards. We got all cards done in under an hour. The design was simple which made for easy duplication and the pre-colored Monster-Rose image by Bugaboo Stamps was a wonderful time saver. It was nice getting my family involved and I think they had fun too. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

You Make Me Happy Card

Hello and Happy Tuesday! It's time for another challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz. This week the theme is the ever popular Anything Goes, but don't forget your card has to be made for a guy. When creating my card I kept the challenge at The Paper Players in mind to have the sentiment be the focus. I thought the sentiment from Perfect Pennants by Stampin' Up! would work perfectly for the challenge. The polka dot stamp is also from the Perfect Pennants stamp set and I used Cherry Cobbler ink. All papers for this card are by The Paper Loft and the edges were inked using Chalk Ink in Chestnut Roan. The stars were punched using a Creative Memories punch and I added three small rhinestones for a little sparkle.

If you've never played along at Cardz 4 Guyz this is the perfect week to create a masculine card and share your creativity. I sure hope you will! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Happy Birthday at Cardz 4 Guyz

Greetings! It's a celebration at Cardz 4 Guyz this week to commemorate their first year. To celebrate the theme is Happy Birthday. If you saw my card from last week (click here) you may be thinking that I like monkeys. Yes! I find them very amusing and some of them are just super adorable! However, when I selected the Surprise Cake stamp by Stampendous! as the focal image, it had slipped my mind that I used a monkey as the focal image last week. There must be a reason I select a monkey for a masculine card, hmmm....I should probably stop this train of thought before it gets me in trouble. So, moving on....

To create this masculine birthday card the supplies are pretty minimal. I used patterned paper from The Paper Loft and Scrapbook Customs. The cardstock used includes Whisper White, Pacific Point and Real Red by Stampin' Up! I colored the Stampendous! image with Copic markers. To add some detail I used a splatter punch from Creative Memories and topped them with Real Red Candy Dots by Stampin' Up! That's it!

We would love for you to join us this week to help celebrate at Cardz 4 Guyz. Click here to check out the inspiration from the rest of the design team. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Coral Bloom for You Card

Hello! It feels like it's been a very long time since I picked a couple of challenges and made time to create a card. So, last night I started this Coral Bloom for You Card and I finished it up this morning. The challenges selected were Tuesday Morning Sketches and ColourQ. Colour and sketch challenges are two of my favorites and I really enjoyed playing around in my craft room.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Vintage Circus Monkey Card

Hello crafting friends! The last couple of weeks has been crazy around my house, but the holidays are over and normal is somewhere in the near future. Hopefully, I can get back to making several cards each week. This Vintage Circus Monkey Card was created for the new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz. We would love to see your masculine card with a vintage flair this week. Unfortunately, my stash doesn't include a lot of vintage materials but I do have several vintage playing cards. Last year at a local antique show I purchased several cute single cards to use on my handmade cards. I think they look adorable repurposed this way. Plus, by using a repurposed item I'm going to play along with my friends at The Paper Players this week.  To make the papers look a little more distressed, I crumpled the brown harlequin paper and used Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink around the edges and over the crumpled places. I used Antique Linen distress ink on the Tempting Turquoise polka dots paper, slightly crumpled it and then added Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink to the edges. The sentiment is from TPC Studios and I used my oval and scallop oval punches. I really wanted to add some brads or something else but everything I tried was too modern, so I went with jute twine to add more texture and detail. That's it!

Looking for more vintage inspiration? The design team did a fantastic job this week and really created some fun cards. Click here to visit the Cardz 4 Guyz challenge blog. I hope to see your creation in the gallery! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Needed - Valentine's Cards for Kids

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and had time to spend with family and friends. As we enter into the first day of 2015, I thought I would share a card drive in the hopes that you would love to participate. It's called Cards from the Heart Card Drive and Winter Sims is the amazing organizer. Click here to read about the card drive and specific "rules/guidelines" for creating the Valentine's cards. Each card collected will be given to a child spending time in the hospital during Valentine's Day. You can make one or as many cards as you want. Just know each card will make a difference. I hope you will take the time and participate. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!
