Owl Love Card

It's been a long and crazy day around my house! So, to help reduce my stress I made this Owl Love Card. The colors were inspired by the current Pretty in Pink challenge at Inky Paws. Pink isn't a color you see often on my card creations but this time of year it's perfect for Love/Valentine's Day Cards. I thought the cute owls from the What a Hoot stamp set by Newton's Nook were perfect for this card. They were colored with Copic markers and then die cut with the coordinating dies. The sentiment stamp is by Stampendous! To create the pink background Distress Oxide inks in Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick were used on mixed media paper. The paper was spritzed with water and then a heat gun was used to dry the wet spots. Picking the patterned paper was the hardest part! The stripes by Doodlebug Designs are subtle and I thought it worked well with the design. Then I decided to add some stitching and the final touch were three clear sequins. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Owl Thanks Card

Good day! I have a quick post to share this Owl Thanks Card I made for the current Inky Paws Challenge. It's a sketch challenge and the hours to play along are counting down. The stamp set used is called What a Hoot and it has coordinating dies which makes cutting the images super easy. This card was made for Wild Heart Ranch, a local animal rescue and rehabilitation group in Northeastern Oklahoma. They do an amazing job and right now they have a lot of baby owls in their care.

I wanted the card to have a natural look, so I dug through my paper scraps and found the perfect patterned papers. The owls were colored with Copic markers and then die cut with their coordinating dies. I'm really happy with how it turned out. I'm also entering it into the Wings Challenge at Cut It Up. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Military Brentwood Owl Cards

Happy Saturday! Today is the launch of a new stamp set at Jessica Lynn Originals called Military Brentwood Owl. The full set will be launched live tonight at 8 p.m. (central time) on the Jessica Lynn Original Facebook page. You will definitely want to join in the fun!!! There will be a giveaway, coupon codes for free digital images and shipping along with a scavenger hunt. During the live event we will be making a card with the new Military Brentwood Owl stamp set. This is going to be a fun event and I hope you will join us.

To create my cards I decided I wanted to use papers that would be widely available to everyone, so I went to my local Hobby Lobby store and found papers in the open stock section. Once the images were stamped I colored them with Copic markers and then die cut them with stitched dies. The embellishments were kept to a minimum just the way I like it and these cards were done.

It's a Boy! Card

Happy Sunday! I'm back today to share another new image from the digital launch at Jessica Lynn Original. This image is called ABC Brentwood Owl and I used it to make a baby card. My cousin and his wife are expecting a baby in the coming weeks and I thought this image was perfect for a It's a Boy! Card.

The layout for this card is simple and I used shades of blue.  All of the papers have been in my stash for awhile. The It's a Boy! patterned paper is by Paper Pizzazz and the blue stripes are by Echo Park. Using Copic markers the image was colored and die cut using a pierced oval by Avery Elle. The outside blue scalloped border was die cut using an Avery Elle die. I tied some white twine to the paper layers before I adhered it to the card. The image oval was adhered with dimensionals and the last touch were the four blue shimmer dot stickers by Jolee's.

Brentwood Owl Coffee Card for Blog Hop

Hello! Today is the start of the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and if you've never joined in... it's a lot of fun! It's a great place to find new products plus there are numerous sponsors with great giveaways. My card features a new Brentwood Owl digital image by Jessica Lynn Original and for a limited time you can download it for free (click here). So, download the image now and play along with the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

To create my card, the image was die cut using a stitched square die by Lil' Inkers and then I colored it with Copic markers. Trying to keep the colors in some summer hues, I used Bermuda Bay cardstock and plaid paper by Lawn Fawn. A strip of green paper was stamped using the Timeless Textures stamp set by Stampin' Up! and adhered to the plaid paper. Some Bermuda Bay twine was added along with three sequins. I'm also entering this card into the Alphabet Challenge to use "H" for Hand Colored Image.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see your creation in the blog hop.

One Day at a Time Card

Happy Friday! I'm pretty good about making and sending sympathy cards, but I also like to send a card after a month has passed. I think it's important to continue to support and encourage those who recently lost a loved one. For this card I have used a digital image from Jessica Lynn Originals called Singing in the Rain and colored it with Copic markers. The umbrella was paper pieced with a small polka dot patterned paper by DCWV. Both background papers are from the Springtime paper pad by MME. The One Day at a Time sentiment is by Verve Stamps and was stamped using Memento black ink. For the finishing touches I added three patterned banners and three coordinating sequins. That's it! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Enjoy Your Day with Coffee!

Happy Friday! The Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop has begun and many of my crafting friends are joining in on the fun. This is my first time to play along, I don't know why.... because I don't start my day without coffee.

The image on this card is from one of the challenge sponsors, Jessica Lynn Originals. I think the owl is darling holding it's giant coffee cup. The image was colored with Copic markers and die cut using a stitched circle die from My Favorite Things. All patterned papers are from the Happy Day paper pad by Pebbles. The Enjoy Your Day sentiment is from Taylored Expressions and I added some twine from The Twinery.

Casual Fall Owl Card

Making casual cards is a nice change of pace. I didn't have to search through patterned papers or fret over selecting the right embellishments, I just stamped. Although the hubby said it is a little boring, it's exactly what I had in mind. This Casual Fall Owl Card features an adorable little Feathery Owl stamp and Branch stamp both by Impression Obsession. The Happy Fall sentiment stamp is by Sugar Pea Designs from their Nuts About You set. After stamping the owl with StazOn Timber Brown onto Very Vanilla cardstock, I used my aqua painters to give him a little color using Tim Holtz distress inks in Frayed Burlap and Brushed Corduroy. The branch was stamped with Walnut Stain distress ink and Brushed Corduroy was used again for the Happy Fall sentiment. Using a Lil' Inker stitched rectangle the entire panel was cut and then adhered to a dark kraft card. That's it! I'm glad you stopped by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Owl with Tree Christmas Card

I hope everyone is staying warm today! We've been getting sleet today and we are expecting snow to start this evening. That gives me an excellent excuse to stay in my craft room. This afternoon I created this Owl with Tree Christmas Card. The layout for this card is from the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches. I tried to clear out some of my old Christmas patterned paper from the Eskimo Kisses collection by Basic Grey. It's been in my stash for awhile and keeps getting pushed to the bottom. I really like the colors in this collection and thought the owl stamp by Stampendous! would coordinate well. I dug deep into my sticker stash and found the two star stickers by K & Company. It seems I always buy stickers but rarely use them. The image was colored with my Copic markers (BG45, E15, E23, E25, E27, E31, E55, R35, R59, R83, G99, YG17, YR27, and Y28). Well, that's about it. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful night and pleasant tomorrow!

Spooky Sky Halloween Card

The creepy tree in this card was just begging for a spooky sky. I couldn't resist trying to make a few ominous looking clouds and moon by doing some sponging. I started with a white piece of cardstock and stamped the tree with StazOn Jet Black, then I sponged on Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Pumpkin Pie, and Summer Starfruit to create the scene. I used punched pieces as masks to create the sky (punches used were various size circle scallops and the pansy punch). The layout for this Spooky Sky Halloween Card is from Freshly Made Sketches. I love the clean lines of this sketch created by Narelle Farrugia. The designer paper is from the Witches' Brew collection by Stampin' Up! and I used the Chevron embossing folder and then sanded the Black Magic cardstock by Core'dinations. I used deckle scissors by Fiskars for the decorative edge on the black patterned paper. It adds a little interest but still allows for a clean look paired with the white paper. Thanks for stopping by and have a great night and pleasant tomorrow!

Adorable Owl Baby Card

Good evening! I hope you had a lovely weekend. We are still waiting for cooler weather to arrive here in Oklahoma but each day it gets a little closer. I'm looking forward to the big "cold front" to move in. Until then... the heat is my excuse to play in my craft room. The card I'm sharing today is one that took me over two hours to make. I'm not a speedy crafter and I kept changing things which didn't help. This Adorable Owl Baby Card is my result after being inspired by a baby bath towel I found at a specialty gift shop. It had a blue swirled fabric edging and featured a cute brown, green and blue owl on one corner. I immediately thought it would make a cute card. I used my Cricut machine and punches for the various size circles. The owl was made using the owl builder and bird builder punches by Stampin' Up!. Punches and die cuts are a great way to use up scrap pieces of card stock. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!

Handmade Card for Dad

Good afternoon! This morning after I read a couple of challenges, I went straight to work making this Handmade Card for Dad. It could be used for Father's Day, Birthday or Just Because I decided to send my Dad a card. I LOVE my woodgrain embossing folder by Stampin' Up! and the challenge this week at Just Add Ink is to use woodgrain, challenge accepted! To decide the other elements of my card I combined the following challenges:
The design is a classic and simple layout, but I didn't want to cover up the woodgrain. The owl seemed to be a natural choice for my animal friend and I used the Cricut machine to cut the letters and circles. I added some jute twine by American Crafts for the final touch and I was done.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Paper Pieced Owl Card

I hope everyone is having a lovely day! Here is my last card for this month. This Paper Pieced Owl Card is full of rich earth tones. The patterned paper is from the Edamame collection from K & Company. This paper has been in my stash for awhile. When I like something a lot, sometimes I don't use it. I hoard it away for "something special".  However, this paper was perfect for the card design. The patchwork design is based off a quilt. I wanted something different, something that you don't see everyday. It's still simple with no fussy details and the paper pieced owl deserves all the attention.  Thanks for stopping by!

Good morning! I hope you are feeling crafty today! Created With Love Challenges has a fun theme this week, Things That Fly. It can be anything that can fly from Angels to Zebra Butterflies or anything in between. Our sponsor this week is Delicious Doodles and my card features their Mr + Mrs Owl image. I colored the image with my Copic markers and added a little distress ink over the image to dull the white card stock. Welcome Wall Hanging

Good morning! Are you ready for a challenge this morning? How does ANYTHING BUT A CARD sound? That's the theme this week for the Created With Love Challenge. I've made this Welcome Wall Hanging using the Bundled Owl image from our sponsor Cedar Chest Designs. I have to admit when I started this project I had NO idea what I was making! I didn't have many fancy supplies laying around the house to use so I searched through my Cricut cartridges for inspiration. I found the tree frame on the Cindy Loo cartridge and cut that out. I decided to make a starry snow scene for the bundled owl, but when I was done with it I didn't really know what to do with it. I looked around my house and saw a wall hanging I had up for the holidays and the *stars* went off. So, that's what I made a Welcome Wall Hanging. See, all you have to do is start and the project will eventually come to you.

Welcome Wall Hanging Directions:
  1. Use comic book board or something sturdy for the main part. The finished size is 8" wide by 7" high. Cover the board with patterned paper, I used night of navy dsp by Stampin' Up!.
  2. Cut frame image using Cricut machine at 5", Cindy Loo cartridge.
  3. Create a winter scene by cutting the night of navy card stock slightly smaller than the frame and adding the details you desire.  I used the Starry Sky all over the page punch by Martha Stewart. Adhere a glittery card stock to the back of the punched star card stock and then add snow drifts to the front. Accent snow drifts with Stickles and spray the whole scene with ice Radiant Rain shimmering mist by Creative Imaginations. Let dry.
  4. Print Bundled Owl digi image and color with Copic markers. Fussy cut image and add crystal effects to eyes, let dry.
  5. Cut Welcome with Cricut machine using the Alphalicious cartridge at 1 1/4". I used white card stock for my shadow letters and the same glitter card stock I used for the stars as the main part of the letter. Adhere letters together using a Xyron create-a-sticker.
  6. When everything is dry, adhere frame to the winter scene and attach owl image with dimensionals/foam tape. Measure and punch holes and secure your ribbon. Attach frame image using dimensionals/foam tape and then place your Welcome letters centered below frame.
That's it! This makes a great handmade gift idea, so let your imagination run wild and see what you can come up with. Thanks for stopping by my blog and I hope you play along with our challenge.
