Dog Sympathy Card

Hello! On Monday I learned of the tragic passing of a dog from the apartment complex where I work. So, I made this Dog Sympathy Card for the owner's. Losing a pet is heartbreaking and sometimes the little things help to get us through.

This Dog Sympathy Card is pretty simple to create. The cloud paper is by Kaiser Craft from the Little Treasures Collection. A die cut cloud using a Puffy Cloud border die by Lawn Fawn. The heartfelt sympathy sentiment is by Unity Stamps from the No Better Words sentiment kit (December 2020). A dog silhouette die cut made using a Cricut machine and then three blue heart sequins added for detail. That's it and thanks for stopping by.

Christmas/Winter at Craft Rocket

Good day crafty friends! Again this month I'm a guest designer at the Craft Rocket Challenge and the theme is Christmas/Winter. We would love for you to join the challenge and share one of your creations. The challenge runs until November 27th at 12 pm (UK time).🎄

To create my card I used an image by Pink & Main from the Homespun Christmas stamp set. It was colored with Copic markers and then die cut with the coordinating die. Then it was layered on top of patterned paper layers that were die cut with the Frames and Flags die set by Newton's Nook. Everything was adhered flat and that's it. So glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Pet Sympathy Cards

Hello! Last month I started a part time job, so my crafting time is more limited than usual. It had been three years since my last job, and I didn't realize how difficult the transition would be. My cats aren't sure what has happened, but thankfully they are only home one day by themselves.

Recently, I needed a cat sympathy card for a friend who suddenly lost one of her cats. I did a image search and found a card on Pinterest that inspired these designs. It was sad, but two weeks after I made the cat card one of my hubby's coworkers had a dog pass away. So, I made a dog sympathy card using the same design. I used different cloud paper, because I couldn't decide which one I liked better. The cat and dog silhouettes were made using punches by Stampin' Up! and the cloud borders were cut with a Lawn Fawn die. Everything was adhered flat and that's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Spooktacular Halloween Card

Hello! The month of Halloween has arrived and I enjoy making Halloween cards for family and friends. This Spooktacular Halloween Card was inspired by a couple of challenge. The photo at Inspiration Station has a girl trick-or-treating with a green pumpkin pail and there are bats on the house. The photo at Two Old Bats inspired me to use the spider web oval stamp by Newton's Nook. Most of the supplies used on this card are by Newton's Nook. The image is called Halloween Pile and it was colored with Copic markers. The Oval Frame Dies were used and the patterned paper is from the Halloween Meows paper pad. Everything was adhered flat for easy shipping and that's it. So glad you stopped by and enjoy the rest of your day! 🎃

Heartfelt Thank You Card

A happy hello! Today I'm sharing a card that is fussier than my usual creations. This Heartfelt Thank You Card features the Nature's Prints stamp set and coordinating dies by Stampin' Up!. The colors include: Night of Navy, Gray Granite, Starry Sky and Pear Pizzazz. There is a base layer of Night of Navy cardstock, then a piece of patterned paper from the Sun prints dsp. The patterned paper was ran through the Big Shot with a Stitched with Whimsy die. Then a piece of In Color dsp in Starry Sky was added. All the images were stamped and die cut, then layered. A piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock was embossed using the Fern 3D embossing folder, then adhered to the base of the die cuts. The sentiment was added and then I decided to add the flower and die cut to the side of the sentiment. I'm entering this card into the Stamp Act challenge at Krafty Chicks. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Hummingbird Card

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog. Today I'm sharing this Hummingbird Card that I made using the colors from the Inky Paws challenge. The colors are: Black, Pink, Green and Gray. To create this card I used three different stamp sets, but the main images are from the Hummingbird stamp set by Newton's Nook. All images were colored with Copic markers and then die cut with the coordinating dies. I ended up using very little black, the images are stamped with black Memento ink. The only coloring with black is the little snail in the bottom corner. Some light gray splatters were stamped in the background and then everything was adhered flat for easy shipping. That's it! Wishing you a wonderful day!  🌸

Thanks Card with Flowers

Good day! One of my friends asked me to make her a few Thank You Cards, so that's what I've been working on. Here is a Thanks Card with Flowers that I made using Pretty Pink Posh Spring Flowers stamp set and a Thanks Scallop Border die from Simon Says Stamp. Copic markers were used to color the flowers and then they were die cut with the coordinating dies. Some black and white polka dot paper provides a good contrast and everything was adhered flat. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day! 🌸

Good Thoughts Card

Hello! Thanks for stopping by to check out this Good Thoughts Card. This card was made for my mother-in-law. She is a two time breast cancer survivor with her first diagnosis over 20 years ago. Recently she had some tests done and found out she has bone cancer. It's a very difficult time for her, so I just wanted to make her something pretty. 🦋

The floral oval stamp is from Newton's Nook, it was colored with Copic markers then was fussy cut and matted to a die cut scalloped oval. A yellow butterfly from the Monarch stamp set by Newton's Nook was added. The sentiment is very retired from the the Perfect Pennants stamp set by Stampin' Up!. Everything was adhered flat to a piece of striped paper and that's it. Thanks again for stopping by!

This Good Thoughts Card is entered into the following challenges:

Birthday Bouquet Card

Good day crafty friends! The month of May has many birthdays of family and friends, including mine. I think it's fun to make a card for myself and this Birthday Bouquet Card is this years make. The main stamp set used is called Bouquet Buddies by Hello Bluebird. This set is a good mix of stamping and coloring. The cat and dog were colored with Copic markers and the bouquet of flowers were stamped with colored ink pads. Two butterflies from the Springtime stamp set were colored with Copic markers and added for more color. The happy birthday die cut was a freebie from Simon Says Stamp back in 2017. Everything was adhered to the yellow Lawn Fawn Speckled paper layered onto the scalloped Gorgeous Grape cut using a die set by Unity Stamps. Everything was adhered flat and that's it. So glad you stopped by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Bunny Enjoy Your Day Card

Happy Easter! I hope you are having a lovely day. We are spending a quiet day at home, which gave me time to finish this Bunny Enjoy Your Day Card. It features the Color Layering Bunny stamp and die set by Hero Arts. As soon as I saw this set I knew I wanted it, I adore the bunny. It reminds me of the cute baby bunnies we find in our backyard. After stamping the outline of the bunny with Memento black ink, I used Crumb Cake ink from Stampin' Up! for the detail stamp. A little Copic coloring in the ear and nose was added. The flowers were colored using Stampin' Blends markers in Lovely Lipstick and Granny Apple Green. I do love the fine tip on the Stampin' Blends for small spaces like the stems and petals of the flowers. The enjoy your day sentiment is from the Simply Sentiments set by Reverse Confetti and a little butterly from the Butterfly Gala set by Stampin' Up! was added. The blue background paper is from the Speckles paper pad by Lawn Fawn and the grass paper is from Doodlebug Design Hoppy Easter paper pad (2019). Everything was adhered flat with the exception of the bunny, it was popped up with Stampin' dimensionals. That pretty much sums it up. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!🐇

Tenth Year Blogiversary

Wow! Today marks the tenth year since I started this Savvy Handmade Cards blog. I want to thank all of my followers! As of today I have 196 followers and 622,484 page views. It's amazing how much has changed in the past ten years. When I started making handmade cards I used a lot of stickers for images and sentiment stamps. Over the years my stamp collection has grown and now I color a lot of my images with Copic markers and use coordinating dies to cut them out with my Big Shot. I still love using patterned paper! There is just something about pretty/cute paper that makes me happy. I don't know what's in store for the next ten years, but I've enjoyed sharing my handmade cards with you. 😊

This Tiger WOWzers Card was made for my niece. She is a senior in high school and has decided to attend East Central University, where I graduated, to pursue her education. The university mascot is a tiger, so I couldn't resist using the Tabby Tigers stamp set from Whimsy Stamps. To add some detail I used the Connected Rectangle die from Whimsy Stamps. Everything was adhered flat and three sequins added for some sparkle. That's it! I'm so glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

LOVE Card with Cat

Good day! I have a quick post to share this LOVE Card with Cat. It was inspired by several challenges that you will find listed at the bottom of this post. My goal this year is to make better use of the items already in my stash. While grieving the passing of my brother over the past couple of years, I've done a lot of online crafty shopping. Now it's time to use all those goodies. This card features a cat image by Reverse Confetti from the LOVE is in the Air stamp set. The image was colored with Copic markers and die cut with the coordinating die. A large LOVE die cut by Reverse Confetti was layered and adhered flat. All patterned papers are from the French Kiss paper pad by Doodlebug Design Inc. To add some sparkle a thin strip of glitter cardstock was added and that's it. Thanks for stopping by!💗

Smile Card

Hello! I have a quick post to share this Smile Card I made with a new word die from Pink & Main. It was included free with my last order and free is always fun. As it turned out I had the perfect paper to use and it's from the Glitter Girl paper pad by American Crafts (2017). To add a little detail and sparkle three yellow circles were punched and topped with red sequins. It's just a simple and fun card that will hopefully make someone smile. I'm entering this card into the challenge at Modsquad to use something new. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!😊

Cats Merry Christmas Card

Merry Christmas! I hope the true meaning of the day brings you joy and peace. A lot of my joy comes from our four cats, so I made this Cats Merry Christmas Card for our feline veterinarian. Although, when the card was finished I didn't want to give it away. I colored the cat images to look like our cats and spent hours to complete the card, so I couldn't let it go. I ended up making a color copy and adhering it to a card base. Looking at them you couldn't tell the difference, you had to feel the difference with the raised die cuts. You may find me doing the same thing again next year. It saved a ton of time!

All images are by Lawn Fawn from the Christmas Dreams and Meow You Doin' stamp sets along with the coordinating dies. Copic markers were used to color the images and some glossy accents added to the star and chocolate milk glass. Some clear Stickles were added to the top of the stockings and everything was adhered flat. That's it! I'm so glad you stopped by and may the rest of your day be wonderful.🎄

Count Catula Card

Hello! The spooky night of Halloween is fast approaching and I couldn't resist making another card for this holiday. Last year I made a door hanging using the Count Catula image by Stampendous! along with several other images (click here), so today I made this Count Catula Card using the hanging as inspiration. The background was made using distress oxide inks. A creepy tree was die cut using a die from Simon Says Stamp and black grass die cut with the land borders die by Newton's Nook. Then I stamped and colored Count Catula by Stampendous and colored it with Copic markers. Several smaller stamps all from Hello Bluebird were stamped and colored and then everything was fussy cut. Everything was adhered flat and that's it! As you can see the cat is the star of this card, that grin is too cute to spook. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!🦇👻🎃

Happy Harvest Card

Hooray... Autumn/Fall has arrived!!! I've been counting down the days to cooler weather and we had a small front come through but the warmer weather is predicted to return. So, I will be patient and wait for the next cool front to arrive. 🍂

This Happy Harvest Card features two stamp sets by Lawn Fawn. The Happy Harvest stamp set and the Let's Go Nuts stamp set (squirrel). All images were stamped with Memento black ink and colored with Copic markers. The blue sky was made using Tumbled Glass distress ink and the ink smooshing technique. A frame was die cut using a piece of Lawn Fawn patterned paper and an Avery Elle reverse pinked die. Everything was adhered flat for easy shipping, although I may keep this one for myself. Well, that about sums it up. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.
