Down Under Stamp Release

Good day crafty friends!!! Today is the launch of a new stamp set by Jessica Lynn Original called Down Under. I had a lot of fun making my cards using the new stamp set. The images came out really crisp and were easy to color with Copic markers. You will definitely want to check out the design team inspiration! Jessica has some amazingly talented ladies who have created some awesome cards using the Down Under stamp set. Click here for the design team blog list.

My first card features the kangaroo image, I really wanted to use my sentiment that says "You are my sunshine," but it was too large for the sentiment area. So, I went with the sentiment "Hey there, Sunshine!" by Verve Stamps. The die cut stitched 1.5" sunshine is by Lil' Inkers and all the patterned paper is from the retired Cherry on Top paper stack by Stampin' Up!

For my second card I used the darling koala image. When selecting my papers I went with more earthy tones from the Autumn Crisp paper pad by American Crafts. The layout is simple and the Miss You sentiment by TPC Studios was stamped directly onto the patterned paper using Memento black ink. Three green sequins were added for some sparkle and that's it!

Jessica is having a giveaway, so make sure you check out the blog for all the giveaway details. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Daisy Cat Card

Happy Friday! It's laundry day at my house but I always have time to play in my craft room while the washing machine and dryer are busy. This Daisy Cat Card was made using the freebie image by IKEsART over at the Show Us Your Pussies Challenge. It's only available for a few more days to play along with the Floral Kitties theme. If you love kitties then you should definitely play along.

To create this card I selected patterned papers from the May Berry paper pad by American Crafts. A scalloped edge die cut was added for some detail along with twine and three candy dots. The Thinking of You sentiment is from the Wetlands stamp set by Stampin' Up! and the image was colored with Copic markers. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Miss You Card

Hello! I've got a quick post to share this Miss You Card I made using this weeks sketch at The Paper Players. My creative motivation is still on the fritz, so I used supplies from the Oh Happy Day Card Kit by Stampin' Up!. I added a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock behind the yellow striped paper and three gold sequins for detail, other than that everything was from the kit. Easy peasy!!!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Winner from 900th Post Giveaway

My apologies!!! This post is later than I intended but here it is... the winner for the giveaway for my 900th Post is KT Fit Kitty. Thank you for being a loyal follower of my blog! I really appreciate all your kind comments. I'll send you an email to request your mailing address.

Now to share this cute kitty photo of our darling Mr. Tazzy, he likes to help me take photos of my cards. I use the top of the stool to position paper and prop up my finished card for photos. It's pretty typical when I get the camera out and get everything situated he jumps on top of the stool and looks at me like "hey, pay attention to me." So this time we had a Tazzy photo shoot and took several pictures until I finally got one with his eyes wide open. He is a ton of fun and definitely has his own unique personality.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Simple Hi Card

The last week my creativity has been pretty low. It seems I just can't get motivated! I'll look up challenges and check out my blog feed for inspiration but... nothing. I'm blaming the summer heat and maybe I just need a creative break.

This afternoon I was able to follow the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches. Everything on this card was already printed or punched and on my craft desk. All I had to do was cut some paper, adhere everything together and stamp a sentiment. Pretty simple! The patterned paper is from the May Berry paper pad by American Crafts and the Polka Dot Bella digital image from Paper Creator came pre-colored. This image reminds me of one of my baby pictures. My mom had tied a "do rag" on my head and handed me a couple of toothbrushes while I was sitting on a green washing machine (see below). The photo was taken when I was 14 months old in 1975.

Bold Birthday Card

Good day! Becca at The Damsel of Distressed is celebrating her 30th birthday with a photo inspiration and link-up on her blog. To wish her a happy birthday I made this Bold Birthday Card using the colors from her photo along with a circle element for the focal area. The background was made using watercolor paper, pink and turquoise glimmer mist, blue watercolor ink, sour apple sparkles dimensional paint by Tulip and Stickles. There is really a lot of sparkle on this card that doesn't show up in the photo. The center circle stamp is by Close to My Heart and the birthday sentiment is by Hero Arts. Bright yellow cardstock was used to mat the circle and yellow twine wrapped three times for detail. Three sequins were added for some extra sparkle and that's it! I had a lot of fun making this card and I hope Becca likes it.

Butterfly Birthday Gift Tag

Hello! I have a quick post to share this butterfly birthday gift tag I made. This is only the second gift tag I've ever made but I do think I'll be making more. The digital butterflies are by Jessica Lynn Original called Winged One Butterfly and I colored them with Copic markers. Once the butterflies were colored I fussy-cut them and adhered them to the patterned paper by Stampin' Up! called Affectionately Yours. The happy birthday sentiment is by Hero Arts and it was punched with a 1 1/4" circle punch and layered with a slightly larger scalloped circle. I popped the sentiment up with dimensionals and then tied the Cucumber Crush lace to the top of the tag. That's it!

Hope Everything's Rosy Card

Happy Tuesday! This week at Tuesday Throwdown we want you to use your favorite embellishment, mine is twine. Although lately I'm using a lot of sequins for added sparkle. Our sponsor this week is Power Poppy and they have some gorgeous floral images. It was a lot of fun and a little challenging coloring the pretty rose images for my cards. I liked the first card so much that I made a second using the same papers and colors. We would love for you to join us this week and use your favorite embellishment on your papercraft project. Click here for the design team inspiration and all the challenge details. You have until mid-day on Monday, July 25th to link your creation. Hope to see you in the gallery!

Both cards were made using the same supplies. After making the first card I realized the leftover patterned paper pieces were still large enough to make another card, so that's what I did. The paper is from the Madeline 6 x 6 paper stack by Prima Marketing. It's been in my stash for several years and I love how the rose paper looks with the Arranging Roses image. The cardstock colors include: Pool Party, Rose Red, Blushing Bride and Early Espresso by Stampin' Up!. I changed the accent colors on the second card to mix things up a bit. The sentiment on the first card and the image from the second card are both from the Everything's Rosy digital stamp set. To make the sentiment stand out I added an embossed piece of Blushing Bride cardstock behind it and added some twine. Both cards have twine and three sequins, however in the photo they are harder to see on the first card. Well, everything else is pretty self explanatory and I don't want to ramble on with too many details. Thanks for stopping by and come back again soon!

Pastel Elephant Baby Blanket

Have you ever seen a fabric and just knew you had to make something with it? When I found this pastel elephant fabric I knew it needed to be a baby blanket and of course matching burp cloths were a must. The flannel fabric is designed by Michael Miller and the colors are lovely together. The reverse side of the blanket has a coordinating pattern and the burp cloths have lilac terry cloth. Both items can be found in my Etsy shop or click the following links:

Dinner Weekly Meal Plan

Hello crafty friends! I made something different this week using a new Calendar Planner stamp set by Jessica Lynn Original. It's a Dinner Weekly Meal Plan to post on the refrigerator so the hubby knows what to expect for dinner. If you're like me I get tired of the question "what's for dinner?" The meal planner will help organize the week and the added grocery list keeps everything in one place. I found a template online and printed it on white cardstock. To make it pretty I added strips of patterned paper in a color that matches my kitchen. After deciding the meals for each day I stamped the veggie images under the grocery list area. The images were colored with Copic markers. Then I added hearts to three corners and an encouragement "You can do it" sentiment to the forth corner. Now the meals for the week are planned and I had some crafty fun making this project.

The design team have made some wonderful inspiration to show the versatility of the new Calendar Planner stamp set. Check out their blogs:

Clyde Merry and Bright Card

Hooray for Friday and hooray that I've completed day 7 of the Catch The Bug Christmas in July challenge! I wasn't sure I would make it but I participated every day and now I have seven more Christmas cards to add to my holiday stash. The challenge today is a color challenge and the colors are merry and bright. I did have to search through my patterned papers to find the pink snowflakes but it was worth the digging. The image used is a new one by Bugaboo called Clydes Christmas and it was colored with Copic markers. I've stayed pretty true to my trademark style with this Clyde Merry and Bright Card. It's pretty simple, includes patterned paper and has my favorite embellishment which is twine. This card will probably end up going to my youngest niece, she keeps all the cards I give her.

Well, thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Sunny Christmas Wishes Card

Good day! I've got a quick post to share this Sunny Christmas Wishes Card I made for day 6 of the Catch The Bug Christmas in July Challenge. It's a photo inspiration challenge and here is the inspiration photo:

To make this card I used the Tropical Santa - Buried image by Bugaboo and colored it with Copic markers. The image was then die cut using a stitched square by Lil' Inkers and matted to a light orange cardstock. A mix of three patterned papers were used, the waves and beach icons are both by The Paper Studio and the clouds are by Echo Park. I made the sentiment using the computer and punched it with a small oval and matted it to a scalloped oval. A die cut stitched sun by Lil' Inkers was added along with three small sequins for sparkle.Well, that about sums it up!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Funny Christmas Card

Hello crafty friends! I'm trying to play along with all of the Christmas in July challenges at Catch The Bug. This Funny Christmas Card is for day 5 to use humor and a recipe for: scallops, bling and layers. I've used another favorite Christmas image by Bugaboo called Puppy -Enough Reindeer and it was colored with Copic markers. The image was then die cut using a cross-stitched oval by My Favorite Things. Three different patterned papers were used, the plaid is by The Paper Studio and the holly and squiggly lines are by Pebbles from the Welcome Christmas paper pad. I added a red stitched scalloped layer for some detail. The paper layers were assembled and the image and sentiment adhered. For some bling I added six red rhinestones by Recollections on either side of the sentiment and that was it!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Penguin Christmas Cards

There are still several Christmas in July challenges going on right now, so I've made another Christmas card. This time I've used one of my favorite penguin images by Bugaboo called Little Penguin Winter - Decorate Tree. The image was colored with Copic markers and then die cut using a stitched rectangle die by Lil' Inkers. To play along with day 4 of Bugaboo's Christmas in July Bingo Challenge I selected the middle row across, which includes: Sparkly, Bugaboo image and Lime Green. The layout for this Penguin Christmas Card is from this weeks sketch #360 at Tuesday Morning Sketches designed by Jessi Fogan. I love using tilted panels and this one worked perfectly with the image. For the patterned papers I used a stripe by Doodlebug Designs and Shiny Trees by Recollections from their Jingle Bells paper pad. Instead of using buttons as the sketch suggested I made three circle embellishments with little round die cuts and lime green sparkly stickers by Jolee's. The last addition was the Merry Christmas sentiment from the retired Good Greetings stamp set by Stampin' Up!. That's it!

Christmas Penguin Gift Tag

Okay, making this Christmas Penguin Gift Tag was a first for me. I've occasionally included a tag on a card but even that is rare. The smaller scale of a gift tag was a bit challenging. My eyesight is not as good as it used to be and coloring smaller images is definitely a problem. So, I selected an easy to color image called Poppi Xmas Candy Cane by Bugaboo and colored it with Copic markers. All papers for this tag are by The Paper Studio. The tag is from a package of blank tags and the size is 4.25" x 2.125". Three green sequins were added for a little more color and some sparkle. It didn't take long to complete this tag and I'm guessing now that I've made one I'll probably make each of my family members one for their Christmas gifts. Well, that's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Candy Cane Charlie Card

Hello! I started making this Candy Cane Charlie Card on Sunday but then our air conditioner started having problems and we went to a hotel. The heat index outside was 105 degrees but thankfully it only reached about 85 degrees in the house before it was fixed this afternoon. I was beginning to worry about my adhesive and stash of finished cards, but all is well.

While the house was cooling down I decided to finish this card. The layout is from the sketch challenge for day 2 of the Christmas in July challenge at Catch The Bug. Using Copic markers the Candy Cane Charlie image was colored and then die cut using a stitched circle die by My Favorite Things. The patterned papers have been in my stash for a very long time! I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from the retired Good Greetings set by Stampin' Up! directly onto the patterned paper. Once all the layers were assembled three gold sequins were added for a little sparkle. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Peace and Joy Snowman Card

The Christmas in July challenges have begun! Since I have a tendency to procrastinate when making holiday cards I find the July Christmas challenges very helpful. This Peace and Joy Snowman Card was made for the following challenges:
To create this Peace and Joy Snowman Card I printed the digital Cute Snowman image by Bugaboo. After coloring the image with Copic markers the image was die cut using a stitched circle die by My Favorite Things. All patterned paper are from the Altitude Collection by Bo Bunny. I love the colors in this collection!!! Cardstock colors include: Whisper White, Dapper Denim and Rich Razzleberry all by Stampin' Up!. After adhering all the papers together I positioned the image and adhered flat to the card. Then the sentiment from the Good Greetings stamp set by Stampin' Up! was added along with three punched snowflakes. For a little more detail three small sequins were added in the center of the snowflakes and some clear Wink of Stella added to the snowman's hat. That's pretty much it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Just Because Card

Sometimes I send cards "Just Because" and I like having several cards with this sentiment in my stash. To create this Just Because Card I combined the color challenge at Create with Connie and Mary with the sketch challenge at Pals Paper Arts, PPA308. The colors are nice and cheerful and I had fun playing with the Falling Flowers stamp set and May Flower framelit dies by Stampin' Up!

The challenge colors include: Peek-a-boo Peach, Tangelo Twist and Cucumber Crush. My patterned paper options in these colors were very limited, so I went with the retired designer series paper stack using Tangelo Twist. Using the retired Decorative Dots embossing folder with Whisper White cardstock for the 3.25" square area was then matted to a slightly larger piece of Peek-a-boo Peach Cardstock. The focal oval was cut and Just Because sentiment from the Tin of Cards stamp set was stamped using Tangelo Twist ink. The leaves were adhered flat to the oval and the flower is popped up with dimensionals. To the center of the flower I added some Dazzling Diamonds for a little sparkle and that's it! I'm also entering this card into the anything goes challenge at Creative Corner. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Indigo Flower Wishes Card

Happy Thursday! This afternoon I decided to use the sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday to make a card. I had good intentions to use their optional theme of Blue and White, but after searching my paper stash I ended up using Island Indigo and Very Vanilla. I really liked how the papers from the Something for all Seasons paper pad by Authentique looked with the sketch. The stamp set is one of my favorites by Stampin' Up called Butterfly Basics and all stamps used are from the same set. The colors include: Island Indigo, Tip Top Taupe, So Saffron and Very Vanilla. The sending Wishes Your Way sentiment is nice for many different occasions and I had to add the butterfly with pearls for detail. Well, that about sums it up. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Giveaway Winner

Hello! Last week Tuesday Throwdown celebrated their 300th challenge and I offered a giveaway on my blog post. The lucky winner is Robin from Robin's Reflections. Thanks for being a follower on my blog Robin and for leaving me such a nice comment. If you will leave me your email I'll get in touch with you and get your prize in the mail.

Wild Wishes Card

Happy Tuesday! It's time for a new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown and this week our theme is Exotic Animals. It was a lot of fun getting a little wild with these Jungle Animal Faces images provided by our sponsor MyGrafico. There were several animals to choose from and I used the panda, giraffe and zebra. We would love for you to join us this week in our Exotic Animal Challenge. You have until mid-day next Monday, July 11th to play along. Click here for all the challenge details and wild design team inspiration.

When I first started making cards I loved using zebra patterned paper. It's been awhile since I've made anything with it, so I was happy to see this challenge. To create my card I adhered the giraffe paper by Bella BLVD and the zebra paper by The Paper Studio to a piece of black cardstock and then adhered directly onto the white card base. For the offset white focal panel I decided to add some gold texture paste by Heidi Swapp using the Dot Fade stencil by Tim Holtz. The images were printed, colored with Copic markers and punched using a 1 1/2" circle punch. The images were then layered with a 1 3/4" scallop circle with black cardstock. I used the computer to print the sentiment and that's it.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see your Exotic Animal creation in the gallery at Tuesday Throwdown

Celebrating 900 Posts!!!

Hello crafty friends! First, I want to welcome all my new followers, I'm so glad you've joined my blog. Second, I'm Celebrating 900 Posts!!! That's right this is my 900th blog post at Savvy Handmade Cards. I'd say that calls for a giveaway! I've got a retired Moonlight paper stack, basic gray twine and a blender pen all by Stampin' Up! for one lucky follower. You have a week to leave me a comment and I'll randomly choose a winner on Tuesday, July 19th.

To create this Flamingo Hello Card I used this weeks sketch at Mojo Monday. The image area was the perfect size to use a flamingo stamp by Stampendous! that I bought on sale but had never used. After looking up pictures of flamingos,  I colored the image with Copic markers. The argyle paper is by Crate Paper and the Hello sentiment is by TPC Studios.

For the Red, White and Blue!

Happy Fourth of July! This year, because of my surgery last week, I didn't have time to make any cards to send for this holiday but I wanted to make something for the Red, White and Blue. I wasn't in the mood to make something traditional, so I decided to make something with butterflies and flowers. I think the Red, White and Blue looks good in floral.

Today is the last day for the design team inspiration for the digital launch at Jessica Lynn Original. I've used the Winged One Butterfly digital stamp on my card. I printed several in an array of sizes, then colored them and fussy-cut the best sizes for the floral image. On the butterfly body I used gray liquid pearls to add some shimmer. For all supply details check out the list below. Thanks for stopping by and if you live in the United States I hope you have a wonderful Fourth of July!

It's a Boy! Card

Happy Sunday! I'm back today to share another new image from the digital launch at Jessica Lynn Original. This image is called ABC Brentwood Owl and I used it to make a baby card. My cousin and his wife are expecting a baby in the coming weeks and I thought this image was perfect for a It's a Boy! Card.

The layout for this card is simple and I used shades of blue.  All of the papers have been in my stash for awhile. The It's a Boy! patterned paper is by Paper Pizzazz and the blue stripes are by Echo Park. Using Copic markers the image was colored and die cut using a pierced oval by Avery Elle. The outside blue scalloped border was die cut using an Avery Elle die. I tied some white twine to the paper layers before I adhered it to the card. The image oval was adhered with dimensionals and the last touch were the four blue shimmer dot stickers by Jolee's.

Beautiful Finch Card

Hello! I hope you are having a wonderful Saturday. It's a holiday weekend here in the United States and I know a lot of families have outdoor plans, but I am not a fan of hot weather. This weekend I'm still recovering from surgery so not much is on my agenda.

Today I'm sharing my second card for the Jessica Lynn Original digital image launch. This Beautiful Finch Card features the lovely Beautiful Finch image. I have several American Goldfinches in my backyard so I decided to color my finch yellow. The patterned paper is a new one by Stampin' Up! called Serene Scenery and I thought it made a lovely background for the Beautiful Finch. Since the paper did most the work on this card I kept the layout minimal and just added a few sequins and some twine. The sentiment is by Stampendous! and I've been waiting to use it for a while, "A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song." That's it! Come back again tomorrow for more Jessica Lynn Original inspiration.

Christmas Card with Digital Goat Image

Hello! Today is the launch of over 10 new digital images at Jessica Lynn Original. Each member of the design team will be featuring inspiration for you on their blogs for the next few days. It was hard to pick which stamp to use first, but this cute Christmas Goat has such a sweet face it finally won me over.

To create this card I started by printing the image and coloring it with Copic markers. Then the image was die cut using a stitched square die by Lil' Inkers. To add some dimension I used white Tulip puffy paint and iridescent loose glitter to make it look like snow under the feet of the goat. All patterned papers are by The Paper Studio and the Merry Christmas sentiment is from a freebie I received years ago. The finishing touches included some Lucky Limeade twine and three snowflake stickers from Jolee's. That's it! I hope you will stop back by tomorrow and check out more inspiration for the digital image launch at Jessica Lynn Original.
