Baby's First Christmas Card

In a couple of weeks my brother and his wife will have their first baby. They are expecting a baby boy and he will be here right before Christmas. I've made a couple of Baby's First Christmas Cards using different colors. I really want to make one with blue colors but I haven't found the right papers.

The image used is by Bugaboo Digi Stamps and it's called Christmas Rocking Horse. I used a mix of Copic markers and paint pens to color the image. The patterned papers on the traditional colored card are from Doodlebug Designs and Recollections. The pink card features patterned papers from Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses paper pad. Each card has twine for detail and a sentiment I created on the computer.

Thinking of You Card

When it comes to sentiments, Thinking of You is a great all occasion greeting. It can be followed by... and wishing you a happy birthday,  on your anniversary, during this difficult time, etc. You can send a Thinking of You Card for no occasion at all. For this reason I believe using Thinking of You on handmade cards is very versatile.

This card was made using my favorite colors and stamp sets. All supplies are by Stampin' Up! and are currently available. Stamp sets include: Butterfly Basics, Sassy Salutations and Watercolor Wings. The colors used include: Blissful Blackberry, Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry, Mossy Meadow and Very Vanilla. To add some sparkle detail to the butterfly I used glitter embossing powder that was heat embossed. That's it!

Be Thankful Card

Happy Sunday! I hope you're having a lovely day. This past week was spent finishing up my Thanksgiving cards. Now that they've been mailed I can play along with a couple of weekly challenges. This Be Thankful Card was made for the following challenges:
The color challenge includes: rusty orange, warm burgundy and pear-like green. For the green I used Pear Pizzazz and the warm burgundy is a piece or Core'dinations sandable cardstock. I cut a negative space into the burgundy cardstock, embossed it with the square lattice embossing folder by Stampin' Up! and then added a pear border inside. The image is from the Hello Fall Simon Says Stamp exclusive stamp set by Newton's Nook. I colored the images with Copic markers. A little twine was wrapped around the card for detail. The leaf bag was paper pieced using a recycled kraft shopping bag and adhered with dimensionals. That about sums it up!

Thankful Autumn Birdies Card

Hello! This week I've been working on my Thanksgiving cards. I usually create a couple of different designs and make multiples of each to mail to family and friends. This Thankful Autumn Birdies Card is one of the designs. I love the cheerful image by Doodle Pantry!!! The image comes with a pre-colored version which makes creating multiples really easy. Each card will be a little unique because I will change the patterned papers used. The plaid paper on this card is from the Pumpkin Spice paper stack by Simple Stories and the green background paper is from my scrap bin and retired by Stampin' Up!. The cardstock colors include: Old Olive, Cajun Craze and Early Espresso. A couple of olive glitter brads were used to anchor the focal image on either side. The Thankful sentiment is from the Acorny Thank You by Stampin' Up! and was stamped using Delightful Dijon ink. That's it!

Vintage Leaves Thankful Card

Good day! It's been raining all day here in Oklahoma so I seized the opportunity to play in my craft room. It's a little sad to admit but I've had these Vintage Leaves stamped and cut out on my desk for at least three weeks. I've been busy sewing and never got around to finishing the intended card. Better late than never I guess! This Vintage Leaves Thankful Card was made with all Stampin' Up! supplies. The patterned papers are retired but all the stamps and twine are currently available.

The stamp sets used include:
  • Vintage Leaves (138802)
  • Acorny Thank You (139718)
For the card base a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock was used and the edges were distressed with Crumb Cake ink. A layer of Soft Suede was matted to the patterned paper that was also distressed with Crumb Cake. The stamped pieces were attached and the twine wrapped around the matted panel before the entire piece was attached to the card base. That's it!

Color Throwdown #368 Guest Star Stamper

A happy hello to you! I'm glad you've stopped by my blog today where I'm sharing a card as a Guest Star Stamper for Color Throwdown Challenge #368. You may already know that color challenges are one of my favorite types of challenges. They push me to be more adventurous with color. Besides color challenges I also enjoy sketch challenges, so I used the Sweet Sunday sketch to create this card.

At first glance of the challenge colors one might think Christmas, but I decided to go with a Thank You card. I was inspired by the circles on the tablecloth and searched through my patterned paper for the Basic Gray background paper from the retired Twitterpated dsp by Stampin' Up!. For the stamping on the focal circle I used the Thankful Accents stamp set by Verve Stamps along with Old Olive and Basic Gray stampin' pads. The white panel was embossed with the decorative dots embossing folder and matted to Old Olive cardstock. The red and pink patterned papers were both in my scrap bin and for detail I added some charcoal twine from The Twinery. That's it! The finished size of this card is 5.25" square.

Chipmunk Thank You Card

Happy Tuesday! As we approach Thanksgiving here in the United States it makes for a good time to remember those things we are thankful for in our lives. With that in mind, the challenge this week at Tuesday Throwdown is a Thank You theme.  We are sponsored by Deedee's Digis and I had a lot of fun using the chipmunk image from the Fall Warm-up image set. Isn't he darling?

I used the pre-colored image and die cut the rectangle using a Lil' Inkers stitched rectangle die. The colors in the image went really well with the new Fall Blessings patterned paper by Carta Bella. For the layout I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday. The Thank You sentiment is from the retired Itty Bitty Banners stamp set by Stampin' Up! For the final touch I added three ivory sequins along with brown rhinestones placed in the center. That's it!

We would love for you to share your Thank You creation with us this week at Tuesday Throwdown. For more inspiration from the design team and all the challenge details click here. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Super Baby Blanket and Burp Cloths

Super Baby Blanket
Hello crafty friends! The last couple of weeks I've stayed busy working on a special project of sewing baby gifts for my brother and his wife who are expecting their first baby in December. We know it's going to be a boy and they are decorating the nursery with a Super Hero theme. It was early summer when I found this adorable flannel baby Superman fabric and I bought all the store had left. I've used the fabric to make a 36 x 36 baby blanket and several burp cloths. Everything really did turn out super cute and my nephew will be able to enjoy his blanket for many years.

I ended up getting really carried away making baby burp cloths because there is so many cute fabric prints it was hard to choose. So, I've now signed up to participate in a local craft expo on Saturday November 14th. Therefore, over the next couple of weeks you won't see too many cards from me because I'll be busy sewing. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!
