Manly Birthday Card

Hello! We are having some lovely weather this weekend in Oklahoma. This mornings entertainment has been a nest of mocking birds who are almost ready to leave the nest. They are making all kinds of noise and moving around a lot. I keep watching to see if I can spy one flying away. It's been fun watching the parents catch bugs and take it to the babies. The nest is right outside my front window in a large Privet. When I'm at the computer I have a front row seat to all the action.

Okay, onto this Manly Birthday Card. This month we are celebrating my dad, brother and father-in-laws birthdays, so I need several Manly Birthday Cards. The image used is by Bugaboo Digi Stamps and it's called Charlie Birthday. Copic markers were used to color the image and I added some glossy accents to the balloon. The image was die cut using a cross stitched oval by My Favorite Things. The image was matted to a slightly larger oval cut using Fiskars deckle decorative scissors.  All patterned paper is from The Paper Loft from the Persnickety collection. I really love the colors in this paper collection, they are perfect for manly cards.  The layout is from the current Stella Says Sketch challenge. To add some detail I added some buttercream twine from The Twinery, three large olive rhinestones and the sentiment is from The Itty Bitty Banners stamp set by Stampin' Up! That's it!

Cute Puppy Card

It's Tuesday again and that means the start of a new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz. This week we have a sketch challenge designed by Julie (see sketch below). It's simple enough for all skill levels to play along. We hope you'll be inspired to create a masculine card for one of the guys in your life.

For my card I used the Cute Puppy image by Bugaboo Stamps. It comes colored which helps if you're wanting to make a quick and easy card. The background paper is from the Go Wild designer paper pack by Stampin' Up! The edges of the paper were inked using Wild Wasabi ink and then layered onto blue cardstock. To highlight the image I decided to double mat with red and blue. The sentiment is by Stampin' Up! in the From the Herd stamp set. When it came to adding the detail next to the center image, I wasn't sure what to use. After much debate I settled on the heart. To finish it off, I added four candy dots to the corners. That's it!

Furry Friend Sympathy Card

Yesterday my parent's Great Pyrenees, Puffy, passed across the rainbow bridge. She was a wonderful dog and lived long past her life expectancy at seventeen years old. My parents raise sheep and she was their keeper and our family friend. She will be greatly missed!!!

To create this Furry Friend Sympathy Card, I used the Tall & Skinny sketch #404 at Mojo Monday. All patterned papers are by DCWV and are layered onto Very Vanilla by Stampin' Up! This card is 3.5" x 6". The sentiment stamp is from the Kind Words stamp set by Verve Stamps. I added some twine and that was it! The patterned paper did all the work on this card.

Puppy LOVE Card

Hello again!!! I'm the hostess this week at Cardz 4 Guyz and I selected the theme Puppy LOVE. I had Valentine's Day in mind but it could also be a budding romance or a fondness for our canine companions. It's always fun to see the clever ways a challenge theme is interpreted.

To create my Puppy LOVE Card I used patterned papers from the new Stacked With Love designer series paper stack by Stampin' Up! The puppy stamp is by Stampendous! I colored the image with my Copic Markers using cool gray colors. I stamped love onto red cardstock and punched using a Martha Stewart heart punch. Then I added three Candy Dots by Stampin' Up!. That's it!

I hope you will play along with us this week. Click here for more inspiration from the design team at Cardz 4 Guyz. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Enough Reindeer Card

Greetings! It's time for another challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz and this week we would love to see some Winter Critters on your card. My card is a Christmas card using a new image by Bugaboo Digi Stamps however, your card doesn't have to be for a holiday. As long as it has a critter and is made for a guy then it meets the challenge guidelines. We would love for you to play along!

When I was searching for an image for my card, I came across this new Puppy - Enough Reindeer and knew it would be perfect to use on a card for my Brother for Christmas. I colored the image with my Copic markers and added some Dazzling Details to the snow. The layout is from the sketch at Bugaboo's Second Annual Holiday Choas. The polka dot papers are simple and from Doodlebug Designs and the green glitter paper is by DCWV. The last detail was adding the black twine from The Twinery. I sure hope you will join us this week for our Winter Critters challenge.

Man's Best Friend for Cardz 4 Guyz

Good morning! I'm excited to announce that for the month of September I will be a Guest Designer at Cardz 4 Guyz. I have always enjoyed making masculine cards and I look forward to sharing my creations with the Cardz 4 Guyz followers.

This week the challenge theme is Man's Best Friend. I had a lot of fun making this card! The image is from Bugaboo Digi Stamps and I colored the cute Rottweiler Puppy with my Copic markers. All patterned papers are from a pet paper stack from DCWV that I found on clearance recently. The sentiment is from a retired Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration set. My style is usually pretty clean so I only used three brads for embellishments. I hope you like it and I hope you will play along with the challenge. We can't wait to see what you create.

Won't You Be Mine?

This morning I was able to snag a little crafting time before my afternoon shift at work. You may recall that I am NOT at all fast when it comes to making cards!!! Therefore, I decided to participate in Meljen's Designs Time's Up! challenge. I set the timer for 30 minutes and made this Valentine's Card for my niece. I'm pretty sure the clean desk helped with this challenge because I didn't have to dig for anything. The layout comes from this weeks Tuesday Morning Sketch challenge. The sketch was simple and only having 30 minutes to make a card made this sketch perfect. I didn't have time for layering so I added a little stitching for detail. To participate at Shopping Our Stash this week I used all supplies that have been in my stash for over a year. I'd say this Won't You Be Mine Card is a Cutie, wouldn't you? In that case I'm entering it in the Cutie Pie challenge to make a Valentine Card. Since I made it for my niece I might as well enter the challenge at My Craft Spot where the challenge is Valentine's for Kids. Well, that's about it. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day/night!!!

Furry Friends Challenge

Welcome to Savvy Handmade Cards. We have a theme challenge for you this time. The theme is to use Furry Friends on your handmade card creation. This challenge is in honor of my late Crafting Buddy who passed away on Dec. 30th, 2013. I know many of you have a beloved pet who hangs out with you as you're crafting. They become part of our creative process and their absence can make that process difficult. I hope you will play along with this challenge and take this chance to honor your crafting buddy.

Manly Thinking of You Card

Hello! I hope you're having a wonderful day! It's been a lazy day around my house and sometimes that's just what I need. This afternoon I created this Manly Thinking of You Card. My brother is having surgery this week and I need a card to send to him. He likes dogs, so I bought this Rottweiler Puppy digital image by Bugaboo. The image was fun to colour with my Copic markers! The design for the card comes from the Stella Says Sketch challenge and I combined a few other challenges for stitching and twine to come up with the end result. When I was searching through my paper stash, I realized I don't have many "manly" patterned papers. The papers I ended up using are from my scrap bin and I stitched them to neutral dsp by Stampin' Up! Well, hopefully he will like it. Thanks for stopping by!
