Floral Mother's Day Card

Hello and Happy Monday!!! My Monday always includes catching up on laundry from the weekend. The one thing that is great about doing laundry on Monday... is it gives me time to play in my craft room. It helps that my washing machine has a very long wash cycle. By they way... have you looked at the calendar lately? It's hard to believe that Mother's Day is only a couple of weeks away. I thought I would take the opportunity to create this Floral Mother's Day Card using this weeks sketch from The Paper Players designed by Ann Schach. Then I used two more challenges as inspiration, 'ABC' Challenges has a Mother's Day theme this week and Paper Playtime has an embossing challenge. I'm also linking this card to the anything goes challenge at Make It Monday. Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic week!!!

Floral Mother's Day Card Supplies*:
  • Paper: Very Vanilla, Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, and Gumball Green card stock and Print Poetry dsp paper stack.
  • Stamps: Secret Garden Stamp set by Stampin' Up! and Happy Mother's Day sentiment stamp by Hero Arts.
  • Inks: Classic stampin' pad in Midnight Muse.
  • Other Stuff: Big Shot, Fancy Fan embossing folder, Secret Garden Framelits, Bitty Butterfly punch, pearl basic jewels, and stampin' dimensionals.
*All supplies by Stampin' Up! unless noted.

Birthday Card for Dad

Good evening! I hope you had a fantastic Saturday!!! We had a nice leisurely day, did a little shopping and stopped at On The Border for dinner. It's nice when you don't have anything that you "have" to do. Tonight I decided to make a Birthday Card for Dad. His birthday is in a couple of weeks and I found the perfect sketch at Seize the Birthday to make him a card. Now, you should know that my family raises sheep and when I found this Tractor Sheep digital image by Doodle Pantry I knew it would be perfect. The image came with a pre-coloured version and it matched the papers I wanted to use, so this card went together pretty quickly. I made this card a little larger to fit the oval shape horizontally like the sketch shows. The finished size is 5" x 6.5".

My card is entered into the following challenges:
Birthday Card for Dad Supplies:
  • Paper: Very Vanilla, Whisper White and Pool Party card stock by Stampin' Up!, Kraft card stock and Hay patterned paper by The Paper Studio, and Grandpa's Tool Shed patterned paper by Echo Park.
  • Stamps: Tractor Sheep digital image by Doodle Pantry and Happy Birthday sentiment by Hero Arts.
  • Inks: StazOn Jet Black
  • Other Stuff: Big Shot, Square Lattice embossing folder, scallop circle punch, circle punch, YEE-HAW brad by The Paper Studio, Cricut machine (stars), and stampin' dimensionals.

Circles Happy Birthday Card

Hello! This afternoon I've been playing with the scraps on my craft table and I ended up having fun with circles. This Circles Happy Birthday Card is a casual design with a contemporary feel. I used punches and my Cricut machine to make the various sizes of circles. The Pacific Point polka dot strip was a discarded idea from earlier this week. I masked and sponged the Pacific Point and then heat embossed the polka dots using the Distressed Dots stamp by Stampin' Up! (the Distressed Dots stamp is on the retiring list, so get it while you can). Overall this was a pretty simple card. Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

My Circles Happy Birthday Card is entered into the following challenges:

Circles Happy Birthday Card Supplies: Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, and Gumball Green card stock by Stampin' Up!, 1" circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, Cricut machine, George and Basic Shapes Cartridge, classic stampin' pad in Pacific Point, StazOn Jet Black stamp pad, VersaMark watermark stamp pad, Zing! white embossing powder, Distressed Dots stamp by Stampin' Up!, Happy Birthday stamp by TPC Studio, heat tool, Big Shot, polka dot embossing folder, clear rhinestones, and stampin' dimensionals.

All supplies are by Stampin' Up!

One Layer Thank You Card

Good afternoon! I have a quick post to share my latest card. This One Layer Thank You Card was made for two challenges. I used the colours from Dynamic Duos (Basic Gray & Basic Black) and the one layer challenge at The Paper Players. Now, let me tell you... this card is my third attempt and I'm still not happy with how it turned out, but it's the best of three. To create this card I masked and sponged a strip of Basic Gray and then stamped with the Distressed Dots stamp by Stampin' Up! and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then I stamped the flowers by Stampendous! and Thank You sentiment from the Lacy & Lovely stamp set by Stampin' Up! I don't know why... but sometimes less is hard for me. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

This afternoon the placement of elements on my first card was driving me crazy! So, I attempted it again. I brought down the gray stripe to leave more room at the top of the card. I definitely like this one better, see below.

Oh Happy Day Card!

Happy Earth Day! My plan for this afternoon is to plant a few flowers in my front yard to make things a little prettier. I can't go too crazy planting just yet, we have a cold snap in the forecast for later this week. The card I'm sharing with you today was made from a recycled/re-purposed coffee sack from The Fresh Market. Not only did the sack make a pretty card but it smells yummy. This Oh Happy Day Card is nature inspired and features one of my favorite animals, the rabbit. We have cottontails in our area, so I added a little cotton to the punched little rabbits tails. The tree image by Hampton Art was heat embossed with Gumball Green and Early Espresso embossing powders by Stampin' Up! and I did a little sponging with light blue to create the sky. For the finishing touches I added a yellow embosslit butterfly and some natural twine. Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Turtle Happy Birthday Card

Last night my hubby wasn't feeling very good. So while he took a nap, I played in my craft room. It was the only logical choice, because let's face it, cleaning wasn't an option on a Saturday night. To start I found a couple of challenges that I wanted to participate in and used them as the starting point for my card. Here are the inspirational challenges for this Turtle Happy Birthday Card:
  1. The Sweet Stop: Sketch/Birthday Twist
  2. My Time to Craft: Stitching
  3. Send A Smile 4 Kids: Birthday Fun 4 Kids
  4. Catch The Bug: Bingo (Pastels, Bugaboo image, Embossing)

I flipped the sketch upside down to place the Happy Birthday sentiment so it looks like it's coming out of the turtle's kazoo. I coloured my Turtle Birthday image by Bugaboo with Copic markers and added a little Stickles for sparkle. There is quite a lot of stitching on this card and I added some purple doodle twine because I LOVE twine. Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!!!

Turtle Happy Birthday Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Whisper White and Wild Wasabi card stock by Stampin' Up!, pastel yellow and purple card stock by Core'dinations, and Easter Chevron patterned paper by The Paper Studio.
  • Stamps: Turtle Birthday by Bugaboo digi stamps and Little Happy Birthday sentiment stamp by Hero Arts.
  • Inks & Colouring: StazOn Jet Black, Copic markers (B02, B14, G12, G40, G43, G99, R83, RV34, YG61, Y00 and colorless blender) and diamond Stickles.
  • Other Stuff: Big Shot, Swiss Dots embossing folder, sewing machine, white thread, Scallop circle punch, 1-1/4" circle punch, purple doodle twine, and stampin' dimensionals.

Cheer Girl Congrats Card

Thank goodness for Friday! This week has been busy for me and I had a couple of unexpected things pop up over the week, but it's all good. Last weekend my youngest niece was in a cheer hip hop dance competition and they won first place. She was very excited and had a lot of fun. Since I live a couple of hours away and can't give her a hug, I decided to make her a card. This Cheer Girl Congrats Card was made using the Cheer Girl digital image by Meljen's Designs. Her team colors are purple and that's where the color scheme comes from. I colored the image with my Copic markers and while doing so I really wished I had a light purple color for highlighting purposes, but I didn't, so I made do with what I have. The light purple background paper is a recycled envelope from a birthday card I received last year. For a little sparkle I sprayed the entire card with ice glimmer mist, it doesn't show up in the picture but is a nice finishing touch. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend.

Friend to Friend Peacock Card

Good afternoon! This morning I woke up unusually early and I headed straight for my craft room. I found a color challenge at Craftin Desert Diva's that practically screamed at me to use The World Treasures Peacock stamp. Can you believe I've had this stamp for a couple of months and this was the first time I've used it? It really made a beautiful heat embossed image. I was brave and carefully mixed three colors of embossing powder. Then I picked papers to tie the colors together. The design comes from the sketch at Try Stampin' On Tuesday and the embossing works perfectly for the LEJ Designs Emboss It challenge . This Friend to Friend Peacock Card is also entered into the Addicted to Stamps and More Anything Goes challenge. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Friend to Friend Peacock Card Supplies*:
  • Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party and Night of Navy card stock, Concord Crush dsp all by Stampin' Up!, and Poseidon card stock by Core'dinations.
  • Stamps: World Treasures Peacock and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets.

Cowgirl Happy Birthday Card

Howdy to all you Cowgirls and Cowboys! Being from Oklahoma and growing up in the country means I'm a little bit Cowgirl. I may not listen to country music or ride horses but I love wide open spaces and a good fishing hole. My teenage niece has a birthday in a few months and she wears boots and shows sheep in FFA (Future Farmers of America) and this Cowgirl Happy Birthday Card was made for her. This card was inspired by a couple of challenges:
  1. Tuesday Morning Sketches: SKETCH
  2. Shopping Our Stash: TEXT or LETTERS
  3. Twisted Tuesday: CHOCOLATE BUFFET
  4. Ladybug Crafts Ink: A card for a CHILD or TEENAGER
I had to modify the sketch slightly to accommodate the stamped image and Cowgirl patterned paper. I coloured the boot with Copic markers and added a few rhinestones for some sparkle. Now let's just hope she likes it, you never know with teenagers!

Cowgirl Happy Birthday Card Supplies:
  • Papers: Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White card stock by Stampin' Up!, Chocolate Brown metallic card stock (Source Unknown), Pink Cowgirl and Pink Bandana patterned papers from The Paper Studio.
  • Stamps: Boot stamp by Inkadinkado and Itty Bitty Banners by Stampin' Up!
  • Inks & Colouring: StazOn Jet Black, classic stampin' pad in Early Espresso, and Copic markers (C3, E23, E27, E49, E55, R83, RV34 and colorless blender).
  • Other Stuff: Big Shot, Square Lattic embossing folder, Bitty Banner Framelits, rhinestone basic jewels, and stampin' dimensionals.

Elegant Butterfly Trio Card

Hello! I hope your Monday was enjoyable. I've been pretty busy today but I was able to complete this Elegant Butterfly Trio Card. The colors are from this weeks challenge at The Paper Players to use Island Indigo, Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, and Rich Razzleberry. I really like all these colors and I'm sad Baja Breeze will be retiring soon. So, I couldn't pass up this challenge. The challenge at Cards in Envy is to use Things with Wings and the Elegant Butterfly punch and Papillon Potpourri stamp set was the perfect answer to their challenge. I did a little embossing for the Pile It On challenge and I'm linking this card to the Make It Monday anything goes challenge. That about sums it up. Thanks for stopping by!
Elegant Butterfly Trio Card Supplies*:
  • Paper: Island Indigo, Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry, and Whisper White card stock.
  • Stamps: Papillon Potpourri wood mount stamp set.

Mourning Dove Chicks

This past week the Mourning Dove chicks hatched! One hatched on Tuesday and the second on Wednesday. I was able to snap a couple of pictures while one of the parents disposed of the hatched eggs. It really is neat to have them so close to my front door. I can peek out my front window and watch them feeding the little chicks. Sooo cute! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Happy Mother's Day Card

Good morning! With Mother's Day quickly approaching I decided to create a card using this weeks color challenge at Sunday Stamps. The colors are So Saffron, Wild Wasabi, and Not Quite Navy all by Stampin' Up!. When creating this Happy Mother's Day Card, I wanted to use the Full Heart Punch because it is very neglected. Using Not Quite Navy ink, I stamped the flower from the Betsy's Blossoms stamp set and then used the heart punch to create my focal image. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without a butterfly, punched using the Bitty Butterfly punch. I added a little bling for some sparkle and did some stitching for detail and that's the story behind this Happy Mother's Day Card. Thanks for stopping by!

Stampin' Up! Supplies:
  • Paper: Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, and Wild Wasabi card stock and So Saffron dsp from the Subtles DSP patterns paper stack.
  • Stamps: Betsy's Blossoms clear mount stamp set and Itty Bitty Wishes wood mount stamp set.
  • Inks: Classic stampin' pads in Not Quite Navy and Wild Wasabi.
  • Other Stuff: Scallop Trim Border punch, Full Heart punch, Bitty Butterfly punch, Itty Bitty Shapes punch, Big Shot, Fancy Fan embossing folder, rhinestone basic jewels, and stampin' dimensionals.

My card is entered into the following challenges:
  1. Sunday Stamps: Color
  2. Flutter By Wednesday's: Anything Goes using a Butterfly or Fairy

Leopard Happy Birthday Card

This afternoon was a little "wild" in my craft room. Well... not really, but I did recycle a leopard kraft shopping sack for this Leopard Happy Birthday Card. The store my hubby bought my Valentine's Day present at placed my gift in this leopard sack. My hubby wrapped my present before he gave it to me but he saved the sack. He said he knew I would want it, and he was right. It was perfect for this weeks challenge at The Paper Players to use a recycled or re-purposed item. I have to say this card was a lot of fun to make. Thanks for stopping by!

Zebra Flourish Birthday Card

Hello! I really love the color Lucky Limeade by Stampin' Up! and this evening I found a challenge to use Lime & Black at the Less is More challenge blog. It just so happened that I had a piece of zebra patterned paper laying on my desk that was the perfect size for this Zebra Flourish Birthday Card. I used the Finishing Touches Edgelit for the decorative edge, did a little stamping, a couple of punches, a little bling, and that was it. Simple and easy.... a Less is More Zebra Flourish Birthday Card. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Zebra Flourish Birthday Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Black folded card by Recollections, Whisper White and Lucky Limeade card stock by Stampin' Up!, and zebra patterned paper by The Paper Studio.
  • Stamps: Dot Flourishes stamp set by Inkadinkado and birthday sentiment stamp by Print Works.

Chevron & Flower Thanks Card

Hooray for the weekend! I took advantage of some free time this evening and made this casual Chevron & Flower Thanks Card. The theme for my card comes from a combination of this weeks CAS-ual Fridays (Chevrons & Flowers) and Moving Along With the Times (Let's Get Krafty) challenges. I LOVE using the kraft corrugated card stock with my blossom punch. It adds just enough texture without overpowering the card. To contrast the kraft card stock I used Pool Party card stock and the chevron patterned paper from the Sunshine & Sprinkles dsp both by Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by and have a FABulous weekend!

Floral Just Because Card

The last couple of days have been rainy here in Oklahoma. It's been a good excuse to stay inside and get a few things done. This morning I created this Floral Just Because Card using selections from The Paper Players Tic Tac Toe Challenge. I originally selected: Spring, Yellow/Green, and Pearls. When I started playing around with my supplies I ended up using: Spring, Blue/Pink, and Ribbon. The main reason was I really wanted to use the Bordering on Romance stamp with my watercolor paper and Stampin' Write markers. The blue and pink color scheme provided the contrast I wanted. I made sure to add a butterfly for the Flutter By Wednesday's challenge and I'm also entering my card at Make It Monday.

Floral Just Because Card Supplies*: Very Vanilla and Midnight Muse card stock, Primrose Petals sandable card stock by Core'dinations, Subtles designer series paper stack, Watercolor paper, Swiss Dots embossing folder by Cuttlebug, 3/8" Midnight Muse stitched satin ribbon, Bordering on Romance stamp, Just Because sentiment stamp by Basic Grey, classic stampin' pad in Midnight Muse, stampin' write markers in: Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Primrose Petals, Pretty in Pink, and stampin' blender pen. Bitty Butterfly punch, basic pearl jewels, and stampin' dimensionals.

*All supplies by Stampin' Up! unless noted.

Good Things Bird Card

I guess it's true what they say... time flies when you're having fun. The first quarter of the year is over and April has arrived. I've been enjoying the songs from the many birds outside my front window. In addition to the Mourning Doves I have a very vocal pair of Mockingbirds who sing many lovely tunes.  For this Good Things Bird Card my feathered friends were my inspiration. To create this card I combined a couple of challenges and the wonderful sketch from Mojo Monday designed by Julee Tilman. I subtly roughed up and inked the edges of my paper with Antique Linen distress ink by Tim Holtz and did a little stitching for detail. The size of this card is a little larger than I usually make, finished size: 5" x 6.5". Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Good Things Bird Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Ivory card stock by Recollections, Early Espresso card stock by Stampin' Up!, and Rouge card stock and Springtime patterned paper pad by MME.
  • Stamps: Language of Friendship stamp set by Stampin' Up! and Good Things sentiment stamp by Hero Arts.
  • Inks: Classic stampin' pad in Early Espresso and Antique Linen distress ink by Tim Holtz/Ranger.
  • Other Stuff: Sewing machine, brown thread, Cricut machine (scallop/circle), Bird Builder punch by Stampin' Up!, gemstones by The Paper Studio, and stampin' dimensionals.
