Happy New Year Card

The count down is on! We are in the last hour of 2012 here in Oklahoma. My hubby and I went for an early dinner and movie. Now we're just waiting for the ball to drop. I couldn't let the day go by without posting one last card for 2012. So, here it is a Happy New Year Card. I used a digital stamp by Bugaboo Stamps and a sketch from the Catch The Bug Challenge blog. Wishing everyone a super happy 2013!!!

After Christmas Thank You Card

After all the presents are opened and the excitement fades away, what is left to do? Make After Christmas Thank You Cards!!! One of the things my mother taught me was you should always send a thank you card when you are given a gift. Now that I make my own cards I enjoy sending them even more.  For this Christmas Thank You Card I've kept the design really simple but I used a gold swirl foil paper by The Paper Studio to add a touch of elegance. I've layered two butterfly punches to add detail and stamped the sentiment with a gold pigment ink. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Handmade Merry Christmas Card

Hello and Merry Christmas! My family celebrated Christmas over the weekend, so it's been a quiet day for my husband and I. This gave me a wonderful opportunity to try this weeks challenge at CAS-ual Fridays, CFC83: Create a CAS holiday card in less than 10 minutes! I have said many times that I am the slowest card maker and that makes this challenge perfect for me. I kept the design really simple and used a K & Company dimensional snowflake sticker for the focal point. I'm happy to say I completed this Handmade Merry Christmas Card in under 10 minutes, but I didn't set any speed records. Thanks for stopping by my blog and enjoy the rest of your day!

Coconut Bon Bons

One of my favorite Christmas candies growing up was Coconut Bon Bons. The last several years nobody in my family made them.  So, I decided to make them.  The recipe is super simple but it does take some time to dip the bon bons in chocolate. They turned out really good and my dad and brother both were happy I made them. Here is my family recipe and I hope if you try them you'll love them as much as we do.

Coconut Bon Bons Recipe:
  • 1 Stick Butter
  • 1 Can Eagle Brand Milk
  • 2 Pounds Powdered Sugar
  • 3/4 - 1 Cup Coconut
  • 3/4 - 1 1/2 Cups Chopped Pecans
  • 2 tsp. Vanilla
Melt butter, mix in Eagle Brand milk, add vanilla, then add all remaining ingredients, mix well. Roll into bit size balls and chill at least one hour. Dip bon bons into your favorite dipping chocolate. I used Ghirardelli chips, mix 2 TBSP shortening with every 2 Cups of chocolate chips.

Cranberry Bliss Bars

Good Afternoon! Right now it is all about the food and baking. I was up until 3:00 AM last night making Cranberry Bliss Bars and Coconut Bon Bons. Our family is starting our Christmas this weekend. It's nice to spread it out to eliminate the rushed feeling. I'm happy to say all my shopping is done and presents wrapped so now it's all about visiting and enjoying time with family. Here is a link for the Cranberry Bliss Bars recipe, the only adjustment I made was I added 1/8 tsp. of ground ginger to the bar batter. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!

Something Sweet

Hello Friends! This time of year it can be hard for me to find time to create a card. Yesterday my project was something sweet for my coworkers. I made these decorated pretzel rods. I used a Wilton mold for the trees which proved to be more challenging than expected, but they turned out okay for my first attempt. I wasn't sure how the Wilton vanilla flavored green chips would taste, but they are really good. They melted really smooth and have a nice flavor. When I placed the decorated pretzels in the bag, something just didn't look finished. So, I stamped Merry Christmas and used my EK Success Real Estate punch to make a tag. It was nice to see the smiles on my coworkers faces when I handed them their something sweet. Thanks for stopping my my blog and have a wonderful day!

Eggbert Christmas Card

Another work week is over and Christmas is almost here. Just when I thought I was done making Christmas cards, I couldn't resist making this Eggbert Christmas Card using the sketch from Seems A Little Sketchy. Merry Christmas to Ewe Card

When I found this Merry Christmas to Ewe digital stamp by Bugaboo stamps, I knew I had to have it! It's super cute and my parent's raise sheep, so you could say it was meant to be. The design for this Merry Christmas to Ewe Card came from the Stella Says Sketch challenge at the Catch The Bug blog. I coloured the image with my Copic markers and added Tulip Puffy Paint to make the sheep look fluffy. I really wished I had some flower soft and debated going to the store but I decided to make do with what I had.  I would be really broke if I went to the store every time I had a creative idea! I'm still trying to build my stash and flower soft is now on the shopping list. Thanks for stopping by my blog and have a wonderful night/day!

Over the Hill Birthday Card

Hello Friends! Here is an Over the Hill Birthday Card I made for my Mother's Birthday. She loves blue and burgundy so I used those colours on top of the herringbone patterned paper by Crate Paper and added a fun strip of blue zebra paper by The Paper Studio. The Over the Hill image is by Bugaboo Stamps and I coloured it with my Copic markers. It's fun to make handmade cards for family and friends. I didn't just go to the store and buy something generic. I created something  special for someone special. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Red Star Christmas Card

Here is quick afternoon post to share this Red Star Christmas Card I made using the Mojo Monday sketch designed by Carole Burrage. I combined the sketch with the color challenge at CR84FN and went with a Christmas theme. If you're wondering why I didn't make the star a glittery silver? There is a story behind that! The short story is I do want to stay married to my husband, who has threatened to throw away and ban glitter from the house. His position is it gets everywhere and then the cats walk through it and then lick their feet and they could ingest it. I know he is right, but it's really hard to refrain from using glitter. So, I went with a red star. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Red Star Christmas Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Dark red folded card by Recollections, basic grey, very vanilla, and cherry cobbler card stock by Stampin' Up!, Christmas Sheet Music and Red Harlequin patterned papers by The Paper Studio, Rejoice Collection patterned paper by Bo Bunny, and basic grey/neutrals dsp by Stampin' Up!
  • Stamps: Merry Christmas by Stampabilities.
  • Inks & Colouring: Tattered Angels glimmer mist in silver sugar and classic stampin' pad in cherry cobbler.
  • Other Stuff: Decorative edge punch, silver ribbon, Cricut machine, Christmas cartridge (star), grey rhinestones, and stampin' dimensionals.
